You need to get the winners right for the 2A Javelin, should be J. Izatt from Juab for #1. with a 165.00 For the Win!!!

Where'd you get your facts? | 2:32 p.m. May 17, 2009
The long jump results for 5A are completely wrong. You've got kids listed there that didn't even make the finals. And where are the high jump results?

Utah Track is Great! | 6:55 p.m. May 17, 2009
I want to thank everybody I came in contact with at the state track meet. I have been involved in athletics as a player, parent, and coach. I have coached great, and not so great, teams in basketball, volleyball. and football. I have have witnessed the good times in team sports, but I have never been able to avoid the ugliness that gets mixed in from parents, and sometimes coaches. However, encouraging my kid to be part of a track team is the best thing I have ever done as a parent, dealing with sports. Attending the meet was awsome! The kids made friends with participants they competed against. Parents cheered for kids they never knew before the meet, either because they wanted to urge them to achieve, were sitting by parents they'd just met, or were simply good fans. Most individual sports are special. Athletes compete against themselves, to improve brings happiness. Subjectivity is practically invisible; you simply win or lose on your own. Yet, the team needs your performance. Track and field may be the closest thing to a celestial sport on earth. Thank you officials, parents, and athletes for creating fantastic memories for my family!

Since I can't include a URL on the comment board, let me just say that you can go to runnercard. I think most of you will be able to figure out the URL. It has all the results from the meet. They will be accurate.

RELAX | 8:57 a.m. May 18, 2009
People, people, you need to relax on the mistakes! I realize that it's your kids and you wanted to see their names in the paper, because winning/placing is not enough! However, with everything going on, mistakes are going to happen. The reason some results are not there, it's because they were 'finals' on Friday and those results ran in the paper on Saturday morning. RELAX.... as a coach I'm grateful the DNEWS has made the effort they have! They have done a pretty good job getting results and writing about key athletes. True they did not write about everyone... fact is they can't! Any attention given to track, H.S. and otherwise is good! I congratulate them, the DNEWS, on a job well done!

Hats off to Dave Wilkey and his staff, and the DesNews for doing such a great job on reporting high school sports in Utah.
On Saturday, it was TEN (10) different track meets going on at the same time. An amazing job!!!

What a great time at the state track meet! My soph daughter won the 100m hurdles and 300m hurdles. After the 300 race final she stood with the 2nd and 3rd place finishers who were seniors and parents of all three were able to take pictures. These two seniors from Parowan and North Sevier respectfully, encouraged my daughter to keep up the good work. TALK ABOUT SPORTSMANSHIP!!!!!!!! Thanks to all involved at BYU for such a good time.
