Only in Utah

This is a big story only because of the LDS implications. If it was about some other religion then it would not even be in the media. To be honest, if my daughter would have made a poor decision like that I would have come and got her from school too.

Only...

Hilarity always ensues when reading some of the idiotic comments on news sites, thanks for the morning laugh ;)

"[T]he Alonsos ... are loving and caring parents. Their daughter is healthy, happy and voluntarily in Texas right now."

Without her cellphone, purse, credit cards, ID, driver's license, etc., etc, --

"Only in Utah..."

You would also have abducted your daughter? Maybe you could learn something from the LDS church about respecting children...

Dear Linda,
I live in Utah and what the LDS Church could never teach me is respect. How about you respect your youth enough to give them an honest and fair choice in their decisions, instead of threatening them with eternal strife for what you deem to be "wrong choices".
