He is rude, crude and screaming most of the time. He is disrespectful to other coaches and teams. What is the U thinking? He isn't even a real winner.

question: UofU if a state school. Where are they getting all this money for Boylen and Whittingham? The rest of the state schools are laying off. What is deal. Maybe we need an audit here yathink?

Plus another advantage to giving him a raise and keeping him around is how much it annoys Cougar fans like Good Grief over there.

Well he's going to have to earn this new contract right off the bat with losing all those seniors. But unlike Giac he's building a program here, and I have nothing but confidence that he's got things moving in the right direction.

This next year may be an off year, but I love the move and look forward to awesome seasons with Boylen down the road.

Anything to bother GoodGrief is good for this state.

Something rarely mentioned about Boylen is that big name coaches know and like him. That is how he has convinced the big schools to play Utah. Just a little icing on the cake.

Good grief must be a Y fan or just extremely jealous of the U's success. The U wins championships. Boylen, though loud, is a great coach who gets the most out of his players and coaches. From what I hear they all love him. Sure he has the opposite coaching style than Whittingham but isn't there more than one way to be successful? For being a successful university let's all assume the Utes need to be audited. Oh Please!
2 Reasons not to stay... | 8:56 a.m. May 13, 2009
1)Because he's on a sinking ship and second, becuase he's so embarrassing to the whole conference with his 'Boilin' rants and raves on the sideline.

Sheesh, he's going to pop a blood vessel in his forehead one of these days and then we'll have a real mess to clean up!

Bring back Ray Giacoletti...LOL

And, no, I'm not a Zoobie so save that response...

Next time before you submit a comment have your mom re-read the article to you and use a spell checker.
The articles written lately have stated that most of his pay was coming from camps , promotions, shoe endorsements, and not out of the University's payrolla.
The Utes did get a payout of around 34 Million in two successful BCS campaigns but they had to give out shares amounting to nearly 1.5 million to the conference schools who have not made a BCS game let alone win.
I have yet to hear a thank you from the TDS supporters for the extra cash.
One Question for Good Grief , does Broncos pay comes from my tithing ?
Re: Good Grief | 9:15 a.m. May 13, 2009
Only a small amount of the contract comes from the school budget. The remainder comes from boosters. This is true for any coach at any school. That is why state schools can offer coaches millions of dollars a year. It all comes from donations.
I don't blame the press... | 9:44 a.m. May 13, 2009
I blame readers that don't comprehend what they read.

The Utah tax-payers are NOT paying Jim Boylen's (or Kyle Whittingham's) salary... Well, they are not paying more than a small part of it.

To be fair to BYU, LDS tithing dollars are going to pay Rose and Mendenhall either.

Those 4 men are the point guys for pretty big businesses. Yes, in ways NCAA sports programs are definitely businesses, and most of the money to pay those 4 comes from those operations. If your season tickets go up in price then you can complain about what your school pays its coaches, otherwise you are just braying for the sake of it.

There is no reason for either BYU or Utah fans to try to make any kind of moral argument about how much coaches at either school get paid.

Two word: Rick Majerus...
Great Job Chris Hill | 12:51 p.m. May 13, 2009
We've got Boylen and Whit for the forseeable future. It's gonna be a long and dark era for BYU fans.

Way to go Chris Hill! Had the guts to fire beloved Ron McBride, discovered Urban Meyer and Jim Boylen, and managed to get Coach Whit to choose us over BYU.
Re: Great Job Chris Hill | 1:25 p.m. May 13, 2009
I'll hand it to Chris Hill for getting Meyer and Boylen, but getting Whit to choose the U over BYU wasn't that big a deal. When you have hundreds of thousands of dollars more to offer him per year in salary, it wasn't that hard of a decision for Whit.
What? | 3:06 p.m. May 13, 2009
I guess he won't have to go undefeated.

A lot of money for very little accomplishment.

It's nice to have someone manufacture offers from Arizona and Memphis to create the illusion of value.
Re; What | 3:50 p.m. May 13, 2009
Do your homework before you spout off about Arizona and Memphis visits or offers. Those are facts.
Are you just a tiny bit upset because Rose can't park his carcass on the recruiting trail anywhere but in Utah County ?
Coach Kyles choice was his to make and he chose Utah, not money.
Where have you been in the sports world the last six months ? I can understand your stupor if you're just off of your mission, but these topics you refer to have been old news for months and years now.
Go Utes! | 1:49 p.m. May 14, 2009
As a Ute alum and fan I am happy for Coach B. As a staff member I am very disappointed because we have been told for many months that there isn't any money for raises this year. I guess for the faculty and staff that is the case. Thanks again Mike Young for thinking of us little people. I guess What else can we expect from a y grad?
