So the Medical Industry who now pays (directly or indirectly) for the health care of the uninsured are interested in pushing this cost onto the government? Wow, what a surprise.
Who can blame them? Not me. Too bad this will most likely lead to destruction of our health care system as a single payer system like that in Canada or the UK is likely to result.
There is a better way...
I hope they are serious and dedicated to this change. I hope it really happens. They have spent too much on lobbyists to fight anything but the status quo. Pharma, Insurance, Dr's and hospitals need to stop looking out for shareholders and making profits. Healthcare should not be a business. Capitalism and greed have wrecked our Healthcare system and created a system where even the insured can end up in bankruptcy.
It is interesting that these same organizations would not lift a finger to help anyone but themselves until the grassroots in America started to scare the peediddlings out of them. My question is, where are these savings going to be realized? Higher co-pays------more denials of health payments----etc. etc. I hardly believe that the big CEO's are going to settle for smaller bottom lines and hence smaller bonuses for themselves. They simply don't operate that way. Polls show that a big majority of Americans want a single payer type of insurance program and it's high time we came up with one. More bankruptcies occur from health care problems than the next three issues combined. It is a broken system and needs to be fixed--post haste.
JT, Cougar Blue,
Your comments are written just like someone who knows next to nothing about health care, and the health care system! Is there waste and fraud in the system? Absolutely! But the real problems are found in the general public. It is the mentality of something for nothing that is so pervasive, that causes most of the problems. Most waste is done because of CYA. Medicine is an in exact science, but most everyone expects (unrealistically) perfection. Then they don't follow doctor advice and eat too much, never exercise, sleep little, drink excessive alcohol, and smoke like a chimney and then are surprised that something is wrong! People need to take more personal responsibility for their actions and the consequences!
