Awesome story!!! Now this is what journalism is all about!! So much better than another Utahn may have pigs flu or some other over glorified drama. This is right!! This is people!! Go get em Terry !! Best of luck to ya!!

FORMER POLICE OFFICER

Hmmm.. I wonder where all the comments from all who are the first to jump on the police when they have to kill another human being? No comments on how this officer put his life on the line and will pay for this persons actions the rest of his life! All for a small salary and ridicule when he has to protect himself and others. He is showing the strength and courage that almost all of our state officers demonstrate as they protect us and our loved ones! We should offer our sincere thanks to all those officers that serve us! Thanks officer Terry

I agree, good story. Leon is delusional if he doesn't think those other stories are news though. Give me a break. Glad he's not a journalist or we'd never know what was going on, only what our neighbors were doing every second. But good job with the story, these do need to be told too.

Tom H,

What a great story about a great man. Harold, I am so glad you are doing better! You are still a brother to us in law enforcement. I miss seeing you on the streets and helping others, and I am extremely proud of you! You've always gone the extra mile Harold. This story proves you still have it in you! I hope to see you soon and I pray for your further recovery. From one of your buddies in blue...(or maybe green and tan....)

Thank you so much for your service even though I do not live in Lehi. This is when pay and benefits needs to go on. This is well earned. What wonderful care from his wife and family, his fellow officers and the whole community. I love your attitude.
Thank you for your example. I needed that today.

Thanks

I really appreciate stories like this. This man made a huge sacrifice while trying to just do his job. It's good to see that communities and their leaders can also come together for the common good when something like this happens. Good luck Officer Terry. Today, a lot of people are thinking of you and hoping for the best in your future.

God Bless Mr. Terry

We wish you all the best in the World. It's too bad, the Alpine / Highland Police Department could learn a thing or two about this great article!

Thank you, Harold, and thank you all the other first-responders, who risk their lives each day. I also commend each one of the Terry family memebers, for their strength and unity that they have shown over the last year.
And to the other officers that were there on that fateful morning, Thank you for doing what nobody wants to do. Because of your dedication, training and immediate actions, my little boy still has his Grandpa. Thank You

Being a former police officer myself, and understanding the work, I too applaud Harold. Although he had some run ins with my kids, I appreciated his professionalism and respect for the kids. He is very unselfish with his time and love for the people was from the heart. today I salute you Harold, for the man you are. Good Job!!!!!

Thankful

I've wondered occasionally how Capt. Terry was doing, and it's so nice to find an article that tells me just that! I remember at the time of the shooting that I was so, so very thankful for the officers of the peace who protect us. The young woman was possibly on her way to commit further violence; we'll never know what tragedies these officers might have prevented that day.

I'm also glad to see that forgiveness has taken place. The family and loved ones of the shooter must feel such a mixture of emotions...ones I hope I never have to feel, but none of us is immune.

Officer Terry is my brother. He is and always has been a very loving person. He just doesn't hide the "sweet side" very well anymore. His positive attitude and forgiveness is the epitome of a hero. All the prayers in his behalf by the community contributed to this miracle of his survival. He was literally saved and buoyed by them. The Dr.'s and nurses were so surprised when he woke up and asked "What the H... are you doing to me?" Go Harold! I love you and I am proud to be your sister.

Harold is my Uncle, he is a great great man. He is the reason that I have gotten into Law Enforcement myself. He has always been there for me and has always shown me love. His family are my closest friends and to see them all in as much pain as they were when all this happened was excruciating for me and i was unable to do anything to REALLY help. But thanks to all the prayers and support from the community it was noticeably easier for them. So thanks to all who prayed and assisted our family. God bless you and thank you for all you do.
