She looks like a child herself. What a horrible story. That poor child suffered a long time before she died. I hope this person gets locked away forever.

There are simply no winners in this situation.I have three children of my own and I understand the initial reaction to be of revenge against the mother. You don't just beat a child to death one day out of the blue. The mother was surrounded by family and obviously was ill equipped to deal with the stress she was under. If the father knew that Ms. Hampton had a "temper" and could "snap" where was he?This poor little two year old baby died in a violent hideous manner and her mother will have to spend the rest of her life with those memories haunting her. That is my description of hell on earth. She should not be under the situation to harm another child nor should she be vilified by the public as the only one responsible for the death of her baby. All that I know is that Ms. Hampton will have to stand trial to a much higher authority and that her baby is in a place of safety and love and will never experience unhappiness or pain again.

Unfortunately children dont have money to get a good lawyer to prosecute. Therefore most crimes against children dont go punished like if they were against an adult. It is too bad. I think we need to have harsher punishments for people who commit crimes against defenseless children. Do you think she will get life in prison for what she did? (no) What if she would have killed a 19 year old boyfriend? Then do you think she would get life in prison? (Yes) our laws need to protect our children better.

What a tragically sad story! This little child will never grow up, and it seems to me that the mother will never grow up either. The tragedy is to all of those that have been denied their right to know this beautiful little child. We need to have a better way to take care of those who are truly endangered. From my perspective, DCFS focuses way to much time on those where there is no endangerment, and leave those who are to die a horrible death. Isn't it time for the laws to be changed? What needs to happen before we find a better way for our children?

Sad story. Breaks my heart that there are parents who would murder their children. I cannot understand why?

The father tried to be there for his kids. The couple were still legally married, therefore the law favored her. He did everything he could, there were no laws protecting him. Sad thing is he saw this coming and no one seemed to care until now.

the whole thing is sad that a child lost her life due to the careless behavior of the one who should be protecting her. i myself have four children and a grandchild i could never for any reason harm one of them no matter how angry i were to be. yes she would be better off sitting behind bars knowing what she has done and remembering it on a daily basis verses getting the death penilty. where was the father? and why was he not allowed to have the children if there as it sounds to have been problems before now, what about the grandparents where are their rights?

I SPENT TIME WITH HER IN JAIL AND SHE KNOWS SHE DID WRONG SHE MADE A MISTAKE AND A MISTAKE SHE WILL HAVE TO LIVE WITH FOREVER. BUT I AM NOT THE ONE TO JUDGE AND ALL I CAN DO IS TRY AND HELP AND BE THERE FOR SOMEONE WHO IS OBVIOUSLY SICK WHILE SHE LIVES WITH WHAT SHE DID. I LOVE HER AN ALWAYS WILL.
