Congratulations!! I especially noted how you did everything together. Similiarly, I was proud of my two oldest, almost adult aged boys when they stayed together with our whole family on a recent trip to DisneyLand. Playing classical music in the morning to get chores started sounds like a great idea.

The story says where some of the kids live, but not where Dixie lives.

It says that American Mothers, Inc. is centuries old??

...as opposed to what?

Those UNamerican Mothers of Utah Valley? Those mothers who cannot be "real Americans" because they're not from Utah Valley?

How many NON-Mormon women have ever been honored as "Utah Mother of the Year"?

American Mothers claims its roots go back to the Civil War, or at least to the creation of Mother's Day.

I have had the pleasure of being a recipient of Dixie's love and kindness when she used to live in California. There could not be a more deserving woman of this reward. She was the epitome of kindness and generosity. She NEVER went without a smile on her face. If she could be kind and loving to a lowly girl such as me, I can only imagine the bounty of love that she bestowed upon her children. How lucky I feel to have known Dixie Clifford!

Good Grief. A great story has to get attacked by the usual garbage brains. American Mothers of Utah Valley... I suppose you would snipe at British Mums of Uxbridge, England? How to take offense when none was intended you may take offense at my comments as offense was intended.

To Dixie, who I do not know, congratulations. You bring light rather than heat.

I have observed first hand the same qualities of motherhood in Dixie that I saw in her mother, and also see in her daughters. Growing up as a school boy with Dixie's brother, I never went to the Olsen home without being engaged by Dixie's mother in genuine conversation to share my views. This made me feel grown up. Her loving care motivated me to want to give a good report at out next vist. This quality of motherhood runs deep in our family clan, and in so many others. Congratulations Dixie on this well deserved honor, and may your outreach as Utah Mother of the Year inspire many to embrace family values. Can there be a more sure way to world peace than on the shoulders of devoted mothers?

Dixie, her husband Linc, and her children were an exemplaryand funfamily in our ward in La Habra CA for many years. She was "the mother" of my three sons in the musical, "The Order Is Love"and my boys loved her. Congratulations, Dixie.

Dixie is the epitome of class.

Dixie's qualities as a mother have their roots in the wonderful example her mother set for her. I was in awe of Dixie even as a little girl as we played house in her backyard under the old apple tree, or paper dolls in my upstairs bedroom on the farm. She was the one who set the stage for real elegance and family togetherness at such an early age in those imaginary family settings. Dixie has an inherent quality that inspires me to be better at whatever I try to do. Congratulations to my dear friend for this well deserved honor!

In response to "Confused," let me assure you that American Mothers, Inc. is an interfaith, non-political, non-profit organization. It has been honoring hundreds of mothers, young and old, since 1935, when they selected the first National Mother of the Year. And yes, they are recognized as the official sponsor of Mother's Day. I became a member of AMI in 1978 and have met and worked with hundreds of women throughout the years who, like Dixie, possess the qualities that are needed to keep American families strong. I applaud Dixie and the other 37 mothers from throughout the U.S. who stand as a light of exemplary motherhood.
