There's no reason Brimhall can't get where he wants to go. All he needs to do is get off his ATV and put on his hiking boots. He'll see and hear a lot more and he won't disturb the rest of us who are also trying to enjoy the peaceful, reflective gift of nature.
wow, you off-roaders are so great, destroying the area so future generations can't enjoy it. way to go selfish!
I'm on the local VOLUNTEER ambulance squad that has to go down into the Paria and drag out the hikers when they break their ankles, and they break them quite often and then they call us selfish off-roaders for help, Think pretty serious before closing the road, or creek bed,(a creek bed is all it really is). I certainly am not going down in there to rescue anyone on foot. You might have to stay down there til you heal or have some of your hiker buddies drag you out.
What Happened TO A FREE NATION????????
with that attitude towards hikers, sounds like you're in the wrong business. If you're a VOLUNTEER, you don't HAVE to do ANYTHING.
EXCUSE ME!! The elitist liberal are those annointed folks are the MOST selfish and please count yourself in that group. Roads were/are developed for access. Access by definition is the ability for all to experience equal possibilities. You would limit access to only those who look a certain way, act a certain way, dress a certain way, and (pugh)smell a cetain way. The real heroes and respectful individuals are those who want access for everyone. You want "tick tock the game is locked." These protesters want to end elitist discrimination and allow equality and access for all. They have the high MORAL ground.
excuse you! you act like it's your land solely to do what you want.
first of all- it's not a road, it's a creek bed. it was never developed for access, in fact, it is prohibited to have motorized vehicles there unless it's an emergency.
second, 1000 riders roaring through a creek bed in a fragile desert ecosystem does SIGNIFICANT damage. it is the ultimate selfishness for you to go in there and destroy it so others now and in the future won't be able to enjoy it at all.
third, i don't seek to prohibit access to anyone who doesn't look, act or dress a certain way, just to those who seek to destroy it.
you have no clue what the moral high ground is.
Driving around in off-road vehicles, tearing up the beautiful land.
Wow, that really sends a message. We can drive our off-road vehicles anywhere we want.
Trust us, you'll like our dirt-bike tracks driving over everything, it's very beautiful.
The protesters are violating one of the fundamental principles adopted for the good of the sport by the national OHV group Tread Lightly: "Travel responsibly on designated roads and trails or in permitted areas. Travel only in areas open to four-wheel drive vehicles." and "Avoid sensitive areas such as meadows, lakeshores, wetlands and streams, unless on designated routes." You can read the whole thing if you Google for "Tread Lightly."
just what i want a caravan of dust and dirt makers
so loud that every animal in the area will end up in kanab for peace and quiet.
Wow! You guys sure seem to enjoy screaming at
each other. Reminds me of the Star Trek
episode where the alien entity feeds off of
conflict and anger. As long as everyone was
at each others throats, the entity was fat
and happy. And nobody noticed...
Hmm, new bumper sticker for the 'Family Truckster',
"FEED THE ENTITY!" :)
Dudes and doodets, for Mothers Day weekend next year, couldn't we just get together and celebrate our 'other Mother'?
Oops, that just bummed the entity...
I am a motorcycle enthusiast and I am enraged that these preening pansies would push upwards of 1000 vehicles through Paria, a national treasure. You clowns realize that the vast majority of the state is open to OHV use, don't you? You make responsible users like myself look bad.
Just because you can drive it, doesn'tmean you should.
How come you are SO ANTI-Handicapped in your viewpoint. Shame on you. I have 2 handicapped wheelchair bound children who have less and less chance to see our wonderful world because of people that think like you. You try using a wheelchair and going in some where. BEt you will not even think about my post, but its real for the many of us that are involved with the handicapped.
Stop whining! There are thousands of miles of back roads available for handicapped folks and others. Get out there and use 'em and leave a few places for the non-motorized crowd.
Enough is enough it has been there for us to use for along time so keep it that way. If you hadnt noticed if the enviormentalist would have just butted out there would not be a need for people to drive 100 whatever through there. Enough is enough. Im glad that they took a stand I have had it just sitting there and letting people walk all over us. We should be able to do what ever we would like. There is no purpose in not letting cars go through there other than a bunch of selfish people have to have a little power and ruin it for the rest of us you have taken jobs, property what else? They have got rid of enough. I give kudos to all of you who stood up at the protest way to go!!!!!!!!
I did this protest, and I thought it was a really fun trip. I live in kanab and I was glad that i was able to go.I think, and probably many others agree with me but the WHOLE trail is a creek bed and in like a month all the OHV tracks will be gone and it will be back to the way it was. I was impressed that a couple of people were there from california and other states. We have rights to do what we want and i hate how the government is taken over everything that we have, especially our roads and trails. what the heck do they think that ATV's and OHV's are for? drivingon the highway? I mean seriously. If they shut down all the roads they will hurt alot of buisineses and it will effect the insurance companies that provide insurance for all the ATV's and what not. They have probably ruined alot of plans for people that go out there and figure out that the roads have closed. Thanks to all the people that have went there and support us.
Thanks,
protesters and supporters
