As much as I thought Seitz played great today, Rimando would have stopped that last shot. No doubt in my mind.
BALONEY!!
I thought the starting 11 played well. They controled the ball and put us in a position to win the game. I hate watching a team play prevent defense and sure enough it prevented us from a win tonight. Andy and Beltran worked hard all night and Horst even played well. I have a real hard time watching Ned. I think the coaching at the end may have cost us a win.
The second equalizer goal was soft. When does Rimando return?
I really like Will Johnson but all things aside, he cost us 2 points then got them back then lost them again, he kept Magee onside, as much as it pains me he did, so it was his hand ball (which is very questionable in my opinion) and his keeping Magee onside that gave LA both goals and that was rather frustrating.
But my biggest gripe was bunkering down for nearly the whole second half. I felt like I was watching the team from two years ago and the beginning of last year. They were playing not to lose instead of playing to win. Morales was sorely missed that is for sure, he helps to create so many things and I honestly think that if he wasn't suspended we win tonight. But life goes on, lets go RSL, beat them Chivas on Saturday!!!!
RSL didn't play well enough to get all 3 points tonight. I was there and mumbled all second half that we needed a second goal. The team didn't have the spirit to get it... why take out Movisisyan for Espindola? It took the push out of the attack. A tie is all we deserved. A shame.
I strongly suggest they send footage of every foul call to the league office and demand something be done about that short referee that called every play possible against Real Salt Lake with or without any contact and he never called any of the obvious pull downs and pushes that L.A. did against RSL! The other refs were fine, but that one guy was obviously on a power trip!
I have never seen such blatant lopsided reffing in my life at the high pro level! That was also not a hand ball penalty shot as the replay in slow motion shows a wicked bounce hit off the side of his chest with his arm behind where the ball hits. That was a NO CALL! Come on coach, send those clips to the league and complain, That ref should be put on probation at the least!
That was like watching the RSL teams of old, up a goal and unable to maintain any possession in the last 15 minutes. Really shows the impact of not having two key players; Olave and Morales. I also feel that dispite not scoring a goal Movsisian was forcing the LA defence to stay at home and when he came out of the match it allowed LA to push forward.
Hand ball call against Johnson was harsh, Kennady is a terribble excuse for a Ref.
The one bright spot had to be the play of Horst.
We watched the game last night.
It seemed as though they were simply content playing "kill-the-clock" defense for most of the second half, except for when they got tied up with the Galaxy PK.
If they would have played with the same intensity before that PK, as they did after it--you might have been looking at a blow out.
What a Mickey Mouse sport....what kind of contest ever ends in a tie except the one at the local community church?
This is why soccer is looked down upon, at least in the U.S.
I have a wonderful idea. Don't watch soccer if you think it's a "Mickey Mouse" sport. Believe me it works. I don't watch NASCAR, NHL, or Baseball because I personally think they're boring. I guess I just have better things to do with my life than reading every article about NASCAR, NHL, and MLB and trying to convince all of the fans that they're boring.
What is it with you soccer bashing trolls? You don't like soccer, than fine. Get a life and find articles on subjects you enjoy to comment about. Tell the billion or so people around the world that the Chelsea-Barcelona match (a 1-1 draw) yesterday was not exciting.
Afraid we've seen this before....
RSL played a decent match and controlled most of the game, but spent the last 15 or so minutes playing 'bunker ball' and made no effort to maintain possession late in the game allowing LA Galaxy to attack over and over in the final minutes.
You allow the game to entirely be played in your defensive penalty area and eventually a bounce of the ball will go against you. As with many past games, we saw the opponent score the late tying goal.
Ouch.
Worship God, not sport figures! Repent!
Re: Fire the Refs,
Sorry, but Will clearly hit the ball with his hand/arm. I'm not saying the call should have been made, but if it had happened to a Galaxy player I'm sure I, as well as many others, would be complaining about a no-call - like Chelsea fans are doing today after a couple of handballs in the box vs. Barca yesterday. I agree we took the bunker down mentality the last 10 - 15 minutes. I was just waiting for LA to get the equalizer. Going into the game I kinda expected the tie, but it was disappointing the way it came. I've got a good feeling about Saturday. I think the boys will deal Chivas their first home loss.
I'm pretty sure that there was a tie in a throwball game this year... Didn't the Eagles and Bengals tie? Pretty sure they did.
Now for my comments on the game, IMO Kreis needs to look in the mirror. Seems like he's laying the blame everywhere but himself, for the better part of the 2nd half the teams philosophy was to lay back and pack it in defensively and it came back to haunt the team (as well as the fans). When RSL is controlling the game, and majority of possesion why change to a defensive, pack it in philosophy? Kreis makes it sound like the players did it on their own, but from my seat it looked like a coaches adjustment either at halftime or shortly after.
There are certain things in life you can count on. The sky is blue, tax day is April 15, the sun rises in the east and sets in the west, etc, etc.
You can also add this to the list of sure bets -- RSL with a one goal lead in the final two or three minutes of regulation and "stoppage time" can and will find a way to either give up the tying goal, and then for good measure, give up a gamewinner.
We got a rare treat last night as those wacky RSLosers managed to give up not one, but TWO one goal leads in a matter of minutes.
Way to man up and close out a game, I mean match. But I guess a point is a point, right?!
Re: J Crunch
I also feel slightly optomistic about this weekend's game; I hope you are right.
I would really like to watch the game again, especially the first half, to see how many calls the ref gave LA. I don't think we had a call go our way for the first 35-40 minutes, despite LA consistantly playing the player instead of the ball. Just another example of the league's consistant favoritism towards their "jewel" teams against the smaller market teams. Kennedy was a disgrace last night.
But in the end, we gave LA a point with our bunker-ball tactics towards the end of the game.
It was great to see Beltran play with confidance, especially when he picked the ball right of LandyCakes feet.
Do soccer fans ever visit other sport's boards rip them? Rarely. Very, very rarely. I think you'll find that soccer fans generally are a classy bunch. You might learn a little from them.
I normally hate to complain about the ref's. I agree that there were a lot of calls that seemed to go against RSL, but I did see a lot of physical play that from RSL that they let go. Most notably would be when Donovan was mugged at the edge of the box in the first half. As a few people have pointed out, I think that dropping so many people back may have cost them the match. It happens all the time though, it is a pretty common strategy in soccer. In my opinion, they just needed to get more pressure at the midfield before they got into our 1/3rd of the field. Good game though, sometimes it just doesn't bounce your way.
