Thank you Brian Dunseth and channel 2.2 for replaying the 'elbow' clip over and over, commentating about it for 15 minutes, directly saying the league should suspend Javi, and then throwing in some m80s and flairs on the matter for good measure. I blame Brian Dunseth.
Yeah, I'm sure the MLS officials were watching Channel 2.2 (which is only broadcast in Utah) listening to Dunseth's commentary and decided to suspend him because of it...
They were replaying it on the Rapids feed as well. Not to mention coaches have the right to put the video up to the league for review!
the rapids broadcast showed the same thing. don't blame the broadcasters for the players behavior.
can they bring the missed back pass call to the attention of the refs?
he hardly even hit him give me a break.
I think Morales will not play if Mastroeni is on the field next game. well deserved suspension.
maybe they can send the league the video of Connor Casey's complete jump and dive right onto Olave's knees, will they do anything about that?
We all know the officiating in this game is terrible. However, the fact still remains that Javi threw an elbow and he shouldn't have. He needs to take accountability for his very poor actions. Having said that, it doesn't make me less frustrated about the no-call on the back pass, that was rediculous. Makes me wonder if the official was even watching.
well deserved suspension! if i was javi i would of done the same thing!
Since minute one of the game Mastroeni kept coming from behind and elbowing Morales in the back of the head without a warning from the referee. I think Morales retaliation was well deserved, and the league should consider the whole game not only a play where both players were in the air. Caseys malicious foul on Rimando should be consider intentional too, specially after his action against Olave. No action was taken by the league on the back pass either. I hope Real will complain the partial way to see the game (after the game)by the league officials. Are they helping Galaxy? Soccer has not a welcome carpet by the media, mainly because they dont know the game, but referees are very bad. I suggest to bring referees from England, Scotland, or Ireland and have a school to prepare american officials. In the past other countries did so and the results were beneficial for everybody.
Casey did NOT maliciously foul Rimando! Have you heard anyone from the organization complaining about that call? I haven't! In fact, from my viewing of the incident, it looked like it was Beckerman who stepped on Rimando. Casey was simply making a play on a loose ball in front of the net. Let's see... there's a chance to score if I try to get to the ball, but no, I'd rather let the ball go and purposely try to step on the keeper's hand, which is coming diving in after the ball to hurt a keeper and risk getting tossed out of the game when my team is up 1-0. Think about it, Born in Soccer Land. It doesn't add up! And this is coming from a guy who has played keeper all his life.
I hate that guy. Dunseth deserves to be fired. I'm fine with him being a poor announcer, but he is not a paid official and he works for a local channel commentating on RSL games only. In his failing attempts at objectivity he ostracizes the fans who support their team.
i appreciate olave stepping up to protect our keeper - as is any sweepers job. whether casey stomped on rimando or not, the sweeper has to constantly swat the flies. of course a rapids player will feign the injury (we shouldn't be surprised by their total lack of class from top to bottom). unfortunate the the league doesn't have a plan to challenge bogus red cards. hard foul and a yellow for sure, but that wasn't a red card.
morales should be suspended for the obvious elbow, but why would he do that? because mastroeni was being his usual self, which i think should be considered by the league. If they will suspend someone from watching film after the game they should also revoke poor suspensions.... take a lesson from the epl.
