When will RSL figure out how to win on the road?
Connor Casey is a complete and utter failure. First he fillets open Rimando's hand and then jumps on top of Olave's knees looking like he just got shot in the shin with a nail gun. I hope the fans at Rio Tinto make sure Casey gets an earful of boos every time he touches the ball on June 6.
One way or anther, they keep putting themselves in bad positions on the road, be it an early goal or a red card or both. They wont win until they figure that stuff out. There was a lot of talk this week about tactical changes, but I didnt really see any. I'm all for the more open attacking style on the road, but that has to yield at least an occasional win to justify it.
Olave is one of my favorite players on the team, but he seems to singlehandedly cost a game or two each season. If he can get that under control, he could be the most complete and intimidating defender in the league.
Olave needs to quit it with his two footed slide tackles going in cleets up. Why does he do that anyway? It looks really awkward and as shown by the game Saturday, it's too risky. I like you Olave, but pleast knock it off!
It actually looked to me like it was Beckerman who stepped on Rimando's hand - but I agree Casey can be difficult to like, to say the least. His leap in the air and writhing around like he had been shot was ridiculous. And then he was on his feet smirking as soon as Olave was shown the red card. I also agree a yellow was probably more appropriate, but, according to Dunny on the broadcast, this was the official's first MLS game as the lead official.
