Jay Evensen: Probably better to overreact than underplay this flu

It is interesting that there was only one noted death of the swine flu in 1976 despite all the warnings. What this article did not say was that there were numerous deaths resulting from the flu shot that year. I know. My father was one. He received the shot and four days later he was dead. Moreover, his death, while it came quickly, was a frightening experience for him and his family to experience. Who warned him against that danger? I have come to conclude that no one really can predict a pandemic, or come close to predicting one. I would hope that there is more media and medical savy in 2009 than there was in 1976, but who knows. We can just hope so.

It is the flu, everybody gets the flu each year. The overreaction is a bad disservice of the media and government.

would be my choice of words here. Over reaction tends to create chaos and panic in society. People who over react tends to be the kind of people who preach dooms day.

We are all gonna be fine, as long as we follow common sense healthy living habits, daily. That's my quarter on this discussion.
