I am looking forward to reading this, although I had no illusions about it being another Lord of the Rings. And, I will probably take you advice about skipping the Introduction and going back to it later.

Tolkien liked words and would have appreciated you getting it right. "Middle-earth" not "Middle Earth". This work, is, of course, published as much for scholars as regular folks.

Speaking of mistakes, the WORD that comes beFORE the main text is the foreword (not forward, notwithstandings its position in advance of the main text).

I always love picking up old books from garage sales. One time I picked up a good looking old book and actually cracked it open. It was a book on the lectures of Aristotle. Now normally I read books that are easy, but this one made you feel as if you were there 23 centuries ago in lecture with Aristotle. This Tolkien book carries the same feel. Of couse the academic complexity is hard to swallow, but if you can get a rythm of the poetry, you can see where the underpinnings of Middle Earth was born from. A must read for any true Tolkien fan. This book only requires an open mind to different reading and an extra shot in your latte'.
