I recently helped a handicapped person fill out the paperwork to get Medicaid. I was astounded at the number of times it talked about how residency was not a requirement. They seem to be handing out Medicaid to anyone who wants it. When I have gone to the emergency room, most of the people waiting for care are indigents, who the nurse informed me were "undocumented" aliens. (The PC term for illegal aliens. HA!)
Do we wonder why we have a several million dollar shortfall???? Why in this small state we spend billions and the welfare/Medicaid system is so blown out of whack?
I have the chance daily, every day at work,to see those with medicade cards. We do have alot of Spanish people who can not even speak enough English to communicate with. I also see alot of young single mothers with 1 or 2 babies. Some times I see people who appear they should be able to work but don't seem to want to. I also see alot of older and aged people, who really need the help. Who pays for the prescription I prepare daily for these people. Thats right, all the taxpayers. I believe the being a Legal resident should be required with no exceptions. To see how bad the problem is, try working in health care for awhile. The government wants to balance the budget by paying less to the health care providers. In pharmacy, we just make a small profit for our time and effort, and the government wants to take that away in budget cuts. Does the government want us to work for free because the people on medicade are low income? Whould you work for free daily? Just a few questions.
