Economically downtroden

When you already have a state full of workers already down trodden with economic struggles it is not difficult to find many that have not been affected, they were already affected and in economic hard times. A state that is 48th in the nation with poverty income how much worse can it get for them? With the state subsidizing poverty income with welfare and makes no effort to cut welfare then they are not going to see the real affects of an econmic strife. The real damage has been to business and people who used debt and credit as supplemental income but have since come to their senses and spend more wisely. Strings attaced federal funds do not and will not help the poor and poverty level income so this poll is moot in its findings. It only proves one thing, Utah is a state of poverty level jobs and incomes as it has always been and continues to be. As time progresse and more illegals flock to the sanctuary of Utah, income and wages will continue to decline along with the rise in welfare. A true measure of Utah's workers is the number of jobs getting welfare.

I do see the potential for consternation over opposing the rationale behind the pork spending of Obama and Congress, yet wanting to take the money.

Idealistically, I want to reject the money.

Realistically, I'll take it. It is helping in many ways, including our schools.

The irony is, it reminds me of one of the biggest rackets perpetrated by our national gov't, and it's in relation to education: taking our tax money and then telling us we can have it back if we do what they say. The constitution says the states will control education, that there is no federal role. They get around that by taking our money and blackmailing us. It's disgusting. But we want the money, right?

Bottom line: who's money is Obama giving us, in all his enlightened benevolence? Ours (or our children's). Thanks.

Ridiculous

This is insane. Does 2/3rds of Utah not own homes or have investments? Have most people already forgotten the sting of $4/gallon gas? Ive hired workers that are willing to work for low wages because they have been out of work.

And who in their right mind would not want stimulus money spent here? I understand being opposed to the stimulus spending, but since its going to happen anyway, why would anyone in Utah want the money to only help other economies?

This poll was either made up, or shows how invalid such polls are. Perhaps the only people polled were the ones lying around at home doing nothing before the recession began, and since their lives havent changed, they are still doing nothing but participating in polls.

lost in DC

I remain opposed to BO's, queen nancy's, and clown prince harry's porkulus package, but since I'm going to have to pay for it (as well as my kids, grandkids, great grandkids ad infinitim), we may as well take the pittance BO will dribble our way - we are 41st in per capita porkulus money. If we could opt out of having to pay for it, I'd say refuse it, but since we can't opt out of paying, take it!

Soul

Whether we like it or not, Utahns are going to eventually pay for the stimulus bill anyways, in the future!

So, let's take the money now and make the best use of it in preparing our economy and grandkids to pay back the "debt of massive proportion".

Good luck to all of us.
