interesting

good in depth coverage. I am interested to see what they will do.

Why not

We have nothing to lose, really though we can't win on the road so we really do have nothing to lose.

elrey

That is good that we are tring some thing deffrent.

I know he did not do much against seattle in the open cup but I would like to see Escalda paired up with Yora on top to see what he can do and sub finly in the second half. Is there any word on when Espy is going to be here.

Thoughtful

I liked that analysis. One thing I'd like to know, though, is whether the tactical change implies a change in personnel. Because too often, if you play the same players and just position them differently or tell them to play different, they end up slipping into what's personally comfortable for them and not what's best for the team.

nerves

I really don't think they are going to mess with a line up that is scoring 4-6 goals and shutting teams down defensively at home. They obviously have some chemistry going. I think they just feel they are pushing the game too hard on the road and need to back off and let themselves stay more organized.

georg

Staying a little tighter in back is probably a good idea on the road. Let the home team needing 3 points press the action and hopefully opening up some space in the back as the match developes.
How is it a team that played for years on artificial turf, is now labeled as a team that cannot perform on that surface?? You would think RSL would be able to handle artificial turf better, didn't we have a good record at Rice Eccles?

yeah

keeping the defense tight with players like David horst is goin to impossible horst is not a good defender, he has played to games now in the MLS and has been scored every time he's played

Not turf

IT wasn't the turf at RES that provided the advantage. It was the fans, which we still have at the RioT. We never scored big at RES, and that was our problem with the amount of ties we got there.

Also, every "turf" field is different depending on how it is laid. So, being good on one fieldTurf field does not translate to being good on another's turf. Just look at RBNY when they were in Seattle.

Agree w/ Not Turf

It's true...RES wasn't a fortress because of the turf...otherwise we would have beaten NE, and NY and Toronto easily. It was the fans and the psychological "home" advantage that all sports teams have. Also, having played on different turf fields in college I agree that all turf fields are different. It can vary between type of turf, the company or brand, and even the age of the turf depending on how well the field has been groomed. Its obvious that keeping the ball on the ground is difficult with any turf field, but the difference between a good team and a truly great team is the ability to win where ever they play in this league.

Will Espy be available for the game?
