BYU basketball: SLCC hoops player commits to Cougars

Putting a team together isn't always about signing superstars. I've watched Logan play since he was in high school. He is the heart and soul of every team he has played on. His teams not only win, but win Big. He was an integral part of 2 State Titles and a Junior College National Championship. Congrats to Coach Rose and the Cougars for getting a great young man, and terrific player.

Too bad Logan won't be wearing T Bird red next year. He would have been a perfect fit for Coach Reid and his system.

While I'm disappointed, I wish him well and nothing but success at the Y.

Looks like Magnusson let his religious beliefs get in the way of a rational decision. He's a good player, but no where near MWC level. He'll end up getting a minute or 2 per game and be practice fodder for Rose. He should have signed with SUU or Westminster where he had a chance to start.

He is obviously a winner based on his experience. I hope he can help the cougars.
In a small market like the state of Utah, I have to say I'm a little disappointed we didn't use any of the scholarships on a prize recruit from out of state. I'm not sure we can complete on a national level with local kids.

I'm still waiting to see the Cougs get out of the first round of the NCAA tourney.

Play for small and off the map Westminster? The egotistical Reid? Or Rose and get a quality education at BYU and play for a more prestigious program? No one in their right mind would have picked the other two. It was a no brainer to accept BYU's offer, and we should all be happy for him and wish him well.

I love how the yewts take a passive aggressive route to complain about this guy because they didn't get him. He'll be a good fit for BYU and the yewts will again finish near the middle to bottom of the MWC.

I played high school with this kid. I do not mean to rip on this signing but he is not a big time college player. He is JC at best. Why? He is undersized to be a PF or C, but he is not a SF because he cannot dribble and he is not a good shooter from outside of 15 feet. He is not athletic. This is a bad use of scholarship money. I like Logan, I did not know him well, I just played against him, I was in the same region as him, and he was good in high school because being 6'6 in high school makes you a power forward, but in college, no way. Bad signing by BYU. Good luck to Logan though, I hope he finds success.

Westminster is the better school.
Better coach too.

Always interesting to me that a young man wants to be a practice player at BYU rather than a starter and key contributor at some of our other great in-state schools.

I wish Mag good luck. He's a hard worker and well coached. His dad was the Wasatch HS basketball coach for years and his brothers did well.

I live a few blocks from Roger Reid and have known him since he was teaching basketball clinics when I was a kid. He is a great man, always has time to talk, and is really misunderstood by people who don't know him. He is a fierce competitor who never really felt comfortable in the spotlight.

I have watched Logan play basketball. Not only is he a good guy he is a WINNER! No, he's not the greatest basketball player I've ever watched, but he gets it done everywhere and against everyone. He digs deep and finds a way to WIN! I'm not a big Cougar fan, but I appreciate Logan for the hard-nosed, hard-working and tough player he is! Good luck. Wish you success.

DIXIE STATE! Logan was a great fit at Dixie State, where he would have been a star the next two years and made trips to Hawaii (DSC conference foes). Now he'll just rot on the bench. Oh, and SUU. Please! They belong in D-II with Dixie where they might finish third or fourth in the Pac West.

Dave Rose has won three consecutive MCW conference titles. Don't you think he deserves some credit for knowing what he is doing?

How many of you who find nothing good to day about any article ever written about BYU have any knowledge or expertise WHATSOEVER that qualifies you to speak out on these articles?

Just because you have an opinion, doesn't mean it is worth much.

Grow up, give Dave Rose some credit and get a life. You may well die from your own venom.
