You want to be sure...

To the parents of the young man who did not heed the officers order to stop; who was driving under the influence with a suspended license; had no car insurance; driving with improper license plates; and ran from the scene of an accident that killed two young men: make sure you put the blame squarely on those who caused the whole mess...the police, because they are the ones who had the suspended license while driving under the influence; had no car insurance; falsified the license plates on the vehicle; and left the scene of the accident that killed two young men. It is a sad situation that two young individuals died, but what is really sad is the fact that parents and their children fail to take responsiblity for their actions. Better to blame someone or something rather than admitting that maybe, just maybe, they might be the reason or cause of such a tragic loss of life.

I don't believe the police would have been chasing them if they would have not broken yet another law and ran. Maybe these two clowns will be able follow society's laws in 20-30 years when they are released for prison.

How can you blame the police. I mean, I dislike police officers just as much as the next guy, but it seemed to me that they were doing their job. Are they not supposed to stop drunk drivers? Even if those two bums were able to avoid the cops, it's still would've been likely for them to end up hurting someone anyway due to drunk driving. It just ended up being a lose-lose situation for the police and the only one to blame are the two yahoos that put them in that situation.

To the parents of the men who killed two people - have you ever heard of 'the buck stops here'? The police didn't recklessly kill anyone. Your son did.

Why don't you like the police? If you follow the laws there are no reasons to not like them. They risk their lives daily to protect you from the worst scumbags in the world, & they do it for little pay & little respect (as you can see in these posts). I know many police officers & they are hard working, dedicated, stand-up guys. It is too bad the climate in this country a lot of the time treats all police like the bad ones.

Nano

As far as their parents go, it's seems to me that they're those "parents" who's in denial to how their kids turned out and blames the rest of the world for the woes that their kids are involved in.

Wrex

Don't worry, these two punks will serve a year or two, and then they'll be released back out into society, where they can resume robbing houses and killing people.

I would be thoroughly ashamed and embarassed if I were the parent to either one of those boys who caused two deaths and would never DREAM of blaming the police! I guess my parents raised me right....

Right On

These are exactly the charges I wanted to see. Get these scum bags off the streets!

Since when is it EVER o.k. to run from the Police? It would not surprise me if there is a law suite against the Police, drummed up by these irresponsible parents of these law breakers, sometime down the road. Are the two individuals that ran from the police and caused this mess in this country legally? I wonder if the parents are here legally as well. Maybe DN can investigate and run a story on that.

As a potential terrorist

we see so much of this type of thing down here on the border that I've become a "potential terrorist" in the words of our dear ex-governor. I'd like to see something serious done about illegal immigration. We might start by not giving them citizen's benefits like free schooling, medical care, food stamps, and earned income credit on their taxes!
It's really common that illegals don't insure their cars or get driver's licenses and have fake IDs and license plates. Of course, Governor Janet's solution was to GIVE them AZ drivers' licenses. So I don't expect to see much change in the situation.

Cops

Poor place to start a pursuit

Anonymous

Does anyone know what their blood alcohol level was? Had they been drinking? (I may have missed that.) The police did what they had to do. If you are not guilty, don't run.....I have no sympathy for the guys who caused this tragedy. Hello people, the police did NOT cause this tragedy.

formersaltlaker

where should they have started the pursuit? i know police pursuits are dangerous and controversial. I also know what it is like to grow up in a rough neighborhood and be treated poorly by the police. That does not excuse what these young men did. And don't give me this crap that these two aren't gang members. I don't care what their parents say; i know people who taught Mora. he is a gang member. Another Mora (a relative?) went to prison not long ago for shooting a young man in order to increase his standing in the gang. Don't even start with me on ethnicity. This is about the reckless behavior of tow individuals which ahd fatal consequences for two other individuals-- nothing more.

Jess

Isn't Gomez an accomplice? He's a couple years older than Mora and they were both together for the whole thing. Shouldn't Gomez be charged with the same crimes as Mora? Are either of these guys illegal aliens?

Ron

You know, I am so tired of people that ask, Where did the pursuit start? Why were the police chasing these idiots? Don't even start! You people ought to be required to ride with the cops for statements like that, and see what we are all up against. We are not all bad guys. We have been tasked with upholding the law. It is too bad that these idiot gang bangers think that they can violate the law with impunity. I think that these idiots ought to be handed the maximum without possibility of parole. They essentially killed two people and put thousands more at risk. They were also violating other laws. Also, Put their parents behind bars. They are also FULLY responsible!! If the system does this, maybe it will set precedence and maybe a lot of this will stop!

@Cops 5:04

Duh, The kids picked the place to start the pursuit, not the cops.

And Ron

I am so tired of the bigots asking about "were they illegals". The fact that older family members have come forward pretty much implies to me that these kids were born here. In OUR country.

It is however time to start punishing parents for a child's transgressions. Maybe Mom and Dad would be a little more responsible IF they knew junior's actions would DIRECTLY impact them.

IT's about QUANTITY time, NOT quality time when it comes to raising the younguns. The fact that those kids got wasted and made a horrible mistake is one issue the unlicensed, uninsured car is the PARENT'S fault.

In my Opinion

Cousin of victim

I am a cousin of one of the victims in this accident. I can tell you that we hold no ill will against the police or the two men responsible for the death of our loved one.

The fact that people are blaming the police is maddening and insulting. The two suspects should have pulled over when the police tried to stop them. Period. The end.

At this point, we are all mourning an unbelievably tragic loss and we hope the two men responsible for this tragedy will be able to change their lives and learn from such a stupid, irresponsible mistake.
