40 years ago when I was single and in the Army I saw a lot of Playboy foldouts just because they were hung all over barracks. There was a natural desire to look and lust but I tried to avoid it because I thought it wasn't the thing a priesthood holder should be looking at. But, I personally know what that temptation is. Recently, I inavertently saw some porn and the stuff 40 years ago was so mild by comparison. I was absolutely shocked. Anyone that would look at that stuff today has a serious problem. I know others whose lives have been destroyed by porn. The temptations will always be there and the church's advice to stay away from porn is wise counsel. Those who disagree are spouting a lot of psychobable.

Some may debate that a "little" porn is not harmful. Fine. However, don't discount the fact that a "little" porn can lead to serious problems such as broken families and marriages. I know of a woman who is divorced after her husband was syphoning away their life savings to satisfy his addiction to porn.

It is clear that the majority of the Mormon Church just does not understand why they have such a HUGE and disproportionate problem with pornography.

Sociologists, psychiatrists and other health professionals will tell you that the Mormon Church has such a HUGE problem with pornography because the Mormon Church has tried to demonize a natural part of human inquisitiveness that cannot be suppressed without damaging the psychological development of a person.

Get a clue.

ok, let's get this straight. Part 1 of 2: Pornography is a malicious evil. It can ruin lives, it can destroy marriages. All of you quoting your Psychologist uncle/friend/brother etc to justify minimizing the harmfulness of pornography are sticking your heads in the sand. First thing to do is ask your psychologist consultant if they know anything at all about the psychological impact MAKING a porno movie has on the female involved. If they do they will tell you it is absolutely and totally destructive. The females are permanently scarred and handicapped. You can read about it on the Internet if you don't have a shrink in the family. For that reason alone, to save the female victims, we should fight against porn. PART 2 of 2. Now changing to the viewer, we only make matters worse when we throw someone on a guilt trip. E.g. Wives who catch their hubbies looking at porn need to take it in stride and work with them to get away from porn. Out of space and out of time. Be happy.

Why do men have to lie about their addiction especially those in the church. I lost my husband 3 years ago. I started dating met this man in my ward. Noticed he was looking at alot of women. Was on the net alot asked if he was into net porn he said no. Found hard core porn 7 1/2 weeks into our marriage. Why lie? I would of handled it better if he had said the truth. It makes me wonder about men now. I did not deserve this and I think I am an attractive women. How rude after the lost of a loved one to tell you no. He says garments are not sexy.
