about the homeless? who is keepin tabs on the vulnerable who have the most
potential to kick it into an epidemic which by the way some are already
declaring...act fast , better safe than sorrry!

You misunderstood the article. Go back and re-read it a little slower. Obviously
if you have it your alrady in the hospital and people are visiting you. If you
have some of the symptoms they are just asking that you stay away just incase
you do have it so you don't spread it. DUH!!

I believe what they meant is that if you have any symptoms and are going to the
hospital to visit a patient, please don't. If you are going to be seen by
a doctor, that is another story.

The health food places need to check out the RESTURANTS on fast foods or any of
the eating places, where they hire mexicans....??? or any other emplyoyees are
they safe ?? are they clean ??? we cant afford sickness??? remmy its from
MEXICO!! U dont want lawsuit on yr hands!!! be safe !!!be prepared!!!! wear a

Anyone can see that this flu scare has been brought up on us because of the bad
economy and global warming--what else could it be?

Whatever the reason the flu is here, it isn't the first time and won't
be the last. I almost died of a regular flu last year and had a very difficult
recovery. It is best to make sure you have on hand what you need to take care
of yourself or your loved ones, and study up a bit. There are some wonderful
resources available.
If we did reach the point of being quarantined, what would we wish we hand on hand? Anything that you get for that situation is something you could use anytime, so it isn't a wasted effort/expense.
A little soup, crackers, juice, applesauce, gatorade, 7-up, etc. is a start. When I was sick the kids had lots of extra responsibility, so I purchased a lot of paper products to make life easier on them if it happens again.
Some easy to prepare meals for the healthy family members isn't a bad idea either. There is a lot of extra work when there are sick people to care for.

What a different world this would be if we DID NOT have the major networks
trying to justify their jobs by blowing things out of proportion and inventing
new catch-words like PANDEMIC!! I am real sure that . . . . oh lets say
Diabetes was diagnosed more times the last couple of days that the Swine Flu.
Headlines . . . that is all that the newsies are after. Lets all resolve to
practice good hygene, eat RIGHT, and think for ourselves. African honey bees
anyone?? Dyer's Woad crowding out our food crops??? How about that
TERRRRRRRIBLE rice shortage last year???? The MEDIA has cost hard working folks
everywhere millions by their trumped up non-stories.

Um, "All Hyped Up," climb out of your little black hole. The word
"pandemic" is a real term and has been around for an extremely long
time. It means a worldwide epidemic. And no, they have NOT declared a pandemic
yet, but they also know how fast it can strike. Do you have hidden knowledge
about how germs spread? It is better to be CALMLY safe rather than sorry. Do
your research instead of sounding like such a medical ignoramus. Read about the
1918 Spanish influenza and other pandemics before spouting off next time.
It's people like you who make it difficult for medical experts and those
trying to help the situation. So if you get sick, please curb your arrogant and
uneducated denial and STAY AWAY FROM THE REST OF US!

I agree that the media in this country is blowing it all out of proportion.
They are concerned that it will turn out to be the Spanish flu of 1918 all over
again. I don't know who is being killed by this outbreak...they never say
but the key in the Spanish flu was that young healthy people were dying (because
of an overcompensation of the immune system) compared to most influenza
outbreaks where the very old, very young and immunocompromised were dying. I
believe in this case however the media feels as if they are providing a service
even though it contributes to mass fear.

exactly the case here: The media are whipping everyone up into a frenzy because
that drives up their readership.
The swine flu has killed 150 people so far. It may kill up to several hundred more.
In contrast, the regular flu kills 200,000 people EACH YEAR.

I see it like this, there are too many things to worry about in life, and we
can't always worry about what big disease we may get, because we could get
one at any time. Excercise, eat well, and live right, and what ever happens to
you happens. You should die knowing you did all you could to keep your body
healthy. If you die, at least you don't have to suffer through whatever CA
decides is the new hip thing to believe.

I thought the quote about how there's a lot of things being done under the
scenes was kinda funny... as if that is supposed ot make us feel better... Just
trust Government to solve everything... Riiiight.
I'd hate to die of Swine Flu, because of its name. they need a more medical term for it, so that people don't die of shame when they catch it.

People need to do a little research before making claims that appear to be facts
so we don't lead people astray.
The 1918 Pandemic had three waves. The first began in March and was weak, killing few people. People were not concerned. During the end of August, the virus had mutated and the second wave was extremely dangerous and killed millions. The third wave was the next spring and was also deadly.
Scientists that I have talked to agree with the CDC that at this point there is no way to know what this virus will do. I am very calm but part of the reason I am so, is because I have educated myself on this and have made precautions for my family in the event of an eventual pandemic.
I am a Christian and do believe Biblical prophecies. There are multiple prophecies of last day plagues so for any who believe scripture, it would be foolish to not be prepared.
Is this one going to be one of the prophetic plagues? I don't know...and you don't know. Be prepared.

Geez Shazam, get a brain. When they are saying "visitors" to
hospitals, they are talking about people coming in to visit patients already
admitted. If those "visitors" are ill themselves, they need to stay
away. If those visitors suspect they may be ill with the swine flu, they need to
check in with their own physician, or if they are freeloading and have no job or
insurance, go to the ER...not to some poor patient's room and get them sick
with the swine flu or whatever else it is that they may be sick with, when the
poor patient is only in for open heart surgery, or whatever! Do you really want
to give that poor patient the swine flu on top of whatever else it is they were
originally admitted for!?

If righteousness were rewarded so easily and wickedness punished so swiftly, our world would be full of good people. According to you, anyone that has lost a job in this economy deserved it for being wicked, then. Does that sound fair?

If you look at the numbers the World Health Organization numbers, only 8
confirmed deaths from Swine flu in the entire world. The U.S. death, a 22 month
old baby. I'm sure "God" really had to punish a 22 month old. Let
me guess, punishment for not sharing toys????? Get a grip people. Death is a
part of life. Things happen.

One might be tempted to ask...where should they go to seek medical treatment...a crowded Mall, perhaps a movie theater, down to the university library, or maybe just ride around on Trax during rush hour...
I understand studies now disclose the most dangerous place to "catch" an illness is a hospital...but why do we have them if those who are sick are asked to stay away...
