Mary Ellen is quite right. Everyone has at least one story in them, and most he many more than one. Getting them to take time to remember and write down their stories is the hardest part.

Porches are great places for meeting friends and sharing memories, stories, and especially so if there are children present to hear some tales about their parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and so forth, that were hitherto unknown to them.

The attraction of a porch as sitting and story telling places is that porches occupy a place apart. They are not in the house, nor out on the street, but in between the domestic and the wild, making porches neutral territory where all meet on equal terms whether they are of the household or not.

Mary Ellen Edmunds has been an inspiration to me since I heard her speak several times in the Missionary Training Center in 1990. She has the most inspirational thoughts and she presents them in both an amusing and spiritual way! I love her to death and highly recommend her books!
