Saw Wicked Saturday night. I didn't know much about it, but I loved it. If I had the time ans $50 I would be down there every night!!!
What great fun and what a nice thing to do!!!
in the pitchure its my best friends mom and sister that won
We did the Wicked Lottery in New York last year and my sister and brother-in-law won. There were less than 100 of us for that one though, and the winners only had to pay $30 per ticket for the best seats in the theater.
It's so great to see my wife and daughter finally win the tickets after losing that lottery at least a dozen times!
Those who win the lottery actually are the losers if they think this is a great musical. The music is nondescript and confusing. After seeing most musicals, it's hard to get the music out of your head, Phantom for example. I couldn't even think of a tune to hum after seeing Wicked. Save your money and see a better musical. One that will stick with you.
Go see Wicked on Broadway or at Pantages in Hollywood and you'll understand what people have been talking about for years.
It's a B- production here in SLC.
I love this thing about America. I love the fact that there is such Opportunity! It's wonderful! This play was fantastic!
It's great that they do this drawing. But, it's ironic, and sad, that people will pay so much(for the normal tickets, that is) to see a touring show and yet not support local theatre. I've done community theatre for years and we always have to beg and borrow just to get the funds to produce a half-decent show.
I respect your right to not like Wicked, but if you think Phantom is the epitome of a good musical, you need to see more musicals. You lost a bit of credibility when you used Phantom as your measuring stick. Not that Phantom is bad, it's just that there are a lot better shows with better music out there.
And FYI, Wicked has several catchy & well-known tunes, probably the most obvious of which is Popular. My 2-year-old knows every word to that song....I'd say it has some sticking power.
I am going Saturday and not looking forward to it, anybody want to buy my ticket???
How much are you selling for? What are seats?? I'm VERY interested!
This is probably the best thing I have seen all year. And based on what else is available (movie, musical, play) will still be the best by December.
I am really looking forward to seeing the Broadway Across America shows next year. Legally Blonde, Lion King, Avenue Q. Gonna be a great year.
While my mother and sisters are going to to Salt Lake to see this (I live in St. George), I am going to be watch X-Men Orgins! yeah wolverine rules~!
Interesting that liking the "Phantom" causes a loss of credibility in the musical world. Tens of millions would probably disagree with that assessment. Of course, lyrics that have sticking power with 2-year-olds is a great "measuring stick". I'll take the "Phantom" over "Wicked" too but that's a case of my own incredibility.
The only two musicals you need to see once in your life.
When did they increase the price to $50.00, each ticket? If I'm not mistaken, I do recall reading that they were going to offering these special tickets for $25.00, each ticket. Was that a typo?
Tickets are $25 each. Each winner is allowed to purchase two tickets thus most will pay a total of $50.
I didn't immediately fall in love with the music from "Wicked." But familiarity in this case did a real number on me. Now that I know the words and basic plot, I'm a much bigger fan of the show! And the performances are simply amazing!
Today will be my 10th attempt at this! Hope 10th time is the charm....! It's getting more about meeting with the fans than actually winning...though winning would be great!
My 10 year old daughter and I will be showing up tonight and tomorrow. Will they let her enter her name, also??? I don't mind standing in line, but it will be heartbreaking when/if she/we don't win. Would be nice to double our chance. Ahh, well. We love the music so, she and a friend skated to What is this Feeling in competition. Loved what we've seen of it...on youtube.
