Take notice, LDS faithful.
The Church dimmed the lights on temple square during earth hour, and built a green library to store archives.
It seems like people would get the idea that Church leadership isn't quite on the same page with the infamous anti-environmental attitude so many Utahans seem to have.
"For it is expedient that I, the Lord, should make every man accountable, as a steward over earthly blessings, which I have made and prepared for my creatures." (DC 104:13)
I can't wait to see the new library; it sounds wonderful.
Also, I understand that the LDS Church is working on a new standard meetinghouse plan that is intended to meet the LEED Gold standard.
I agree with the first comment. LDS faithful should remember that we are to conserve and use wisely any resource we have, since everything we have comes from the Lord. At the same time, we don't need to be extreme about it, and we need to be careful not to buy into sketchy theories like "global warming."
global warming sketchy? Alot of Mormons would not agree with that.
When a company/organization is willing to invest in just making simple additions or changes to make the building more efficient and "green." I've seen other companies doing this and I applaud the effort. These type of adjustments and changes are the most likely to spread. It doesn't take a lot but it helps a lot.
I look forward to seeing this building and just how beautiful and efficient building can be.
Global warming is a myth. If it were true we would receive warnings about it from the proper authorities.
Um, Ernest? We have. Why do you think they turned off the lights of the SL Temple for Earth Hour? That was a global warming awareness event.
The church wants to be politically correct and improve its image.
I believe in global warming as much as I believe he world is flat.
I belive in a clean environment but I don't belive in the fear based arguments of global warming.
For the record I didn't believe in the fear arguments of the ice-age in the 80's (by now we are all supposed to have been crushed together on one continent, with not food), the "acid" rain and Ozone of the 90's, and now global warming. If it wasn't used to promote hate against people and name calling, and people weren't trying to profit from it, I would be more inclined to listen.
bunch of liberals.... ;)
I believe we each are responsible for doing what we can to improve our relationship in living and working in conjunction with nature. HOWEVER, let's not politicize it. Political correctness is killing us and causing us to become more subject to slavery.
We are stewards of this earth. We will be judged on how we treat it. It doesn't matter one bit to me whether global warming is real or not, I'm all for trying to live 'green'.
