were so insistent on having that same transparency for the federal reserve and corporations, he himself would have credibility and maybe this Country would be on the brink of collapse today. Unfortunately he has lost what little credibility he had.
It is ridiculous to rescind these regulations, once again the Obama administration demonstrates that is the lackey of big labor, and symbolic of everything that is wrong in Washington today.
There was a time when unions were useful and necessary to correct for terrible working conditions and exploitation by captialists at end of 19th century. Now, they've morphed into a "what in it for me" attitude. Look at what they've done to Eastern Airlines (oops, not around anymore --strike made it go bankrupt). Look at what they're doing to General Motors -- You'd have to have lived in a cave the last 6 months not to see that. No concessiosn at all. Highest health care benefits of any company in the nation for retirees. They'd rather th company go under than give a litte. And now, they're pushing the Secret Ballot bill through Democratic Congress. Nothing more than enabiling secret combinations and threats and intimidating non-union workers. It's a disgrace, disgusting, and frankly, Unamerican.
If it wasn't for them, we would be working 60-72 hours per week without any benefits. Get fired for any reason such as getting sick, old, pregnant, complain etc. Lack of unions have brought wages down while the decimation of the middle class.
scret ballots have always been around. Now the employees decide on the type of vote not the company. What aspect of Government does not have secret combinations. Hatch and ol man Kennedy have swapped more than one hand shake.
We need a re-emergence of the unions. Even the govt employees have strong unions where the members are job protected and overly rewarded. With the likes of Hatch and there are many, all the republicons can do is go around shooting themselves in the foot. The repugs will never again have the opportunity they had during the Bush years so I suggest the party be disbanded and those that want to, go independent. Republicon=Wigg Party
Attack the unions, it is good for politics in utah.
Attack, attack, attack...... get re-elected.
Utahns are such ignorant fools.
Before Hatch starts calling unions on the carpet and accusing them of corruption, he should clean up his own house first. Talkning about corruption, the capital and many local governments and elected offials ofices are full of it. Unions have been targeted by government and business only because they want to destroy ever last vestige of organized labor efforts to have some representation as workers. States and business have broken many unions by closing down shop in america and exporting its jobs and manufacturing to foreign countries. With no workers then the unions are forced out of existance because there are no workers left. It's okay for business and corporations to make lucrative profits and abuse its workforce but workers are denied the right to have a voice for their terms of employment and benefits. The days of corruption amd mob control of unions has long been gone and these efforts by federal government are to futher put americas workforce in jobs at poverty level employment. The government should be encouraging unions and worker membership, not trying to destroy workers rights.
Days of mob corruption of unions long gone? Maybe your local isn't, but the AFL-CIO has long ties to the mob and unsavory influences. That's not even in dispute. I've worked for 46 years in jobs, never with a union, and never felt I had to have one to "look out for me." Usually its the uneducated who get hoodwinked by union bosses who promise their "umbrella of protection" for them and they get sucked into it. Unions have ruined more businesses in this country and killed more jobs than they've saved. Just look at Eastern Air Lines, and now GM. If you don't like your job, start your own business. Get an SBA loan. Get a government grant. Start an ACORN chapter. Go back to school and get a degree. If you're poor, Obama will pay for it all now. How can anyone say that this UNION bill being run through congress demanding OPEN BALLOTS for unionization is fair? It's a complete outrage. And anti-american.
Hatch continues to beat the drum, must b e time to gather the political money and get ready to retire.
What a joke!! Picking on the unions once again. Gee whilikers, will it ever stop?
Americans, unions helped and continue to help make this a great nation. But the money bags, the gop, continue to sell you a very bad bill of goods. Don't be fooled: unions and unionization was critical then and is now in protecting the common man, me and you my friend.
