more socialism

Oh no!
Taxpayers money to support our National Parks?
That's socialism!

LOL!

Parks get Stimbucks...

...in exchange for Utah's soul...

Matt

Raise my taxes and give them back to me as a 'stimulus gift'? How does that stimulate anything? what a waste?

Atlas

Gut government. Go private.

Good Plan

National Parks are the jewels of our nation. They are expensive to maintain, but maintain them we must.

Meanwhile, this creates local jobs.

More socialism

I don't want my tax dollars to go towards any park!
Like PUBLIC SCHOOLS, LIBRARIES, POST OFFICES, FIRE DEPARTMENTS, POLICE DEPARTMENTS, HOSPITALS ...
Paying for these services is SOCIALISM!
I'd prefer to use my taxpayer dollars for war and torture.

there goes the

neighborhood...utah is thrashed anyways just come to moab and don't swim in the water or you might be a glow in the dark dude!

Randall

What A Great Day For Utah And America.
Hail To The Chief.

Cats

This would all be great if we could afford it. Unfortunately, WE CAN'T.

Hey, I know. Let's just keep printing money!!!

Spacecowboy

Interesting that most of the comments are mocking negative comments that haven't even been made... I guess when you get in a groove to complain about people with other political views, it's easy to keep it up, especially when your guy does something right. A good idea is time to celebrate collectively, not kick sand ("more socialism," I'm talking to you, buckaroo.)

falcon's beak

Every government "stimulus" job takes two jobs away from the private sector. Our economy is withering away steadily. The bear market rally is just that and cannot be sustained if there are fewer and fewer jobs. These projects are ok if the economy were ok, but they won't help now.

Re; Good Plan

Well, considering the Federal Government is the property owner, one would think they would normally budget for maintenance and improvements in the National Parks, instead of having to pass a special "stimulus bill" to do it.

How long has that visitor's center been closed? And they're just now getting to it?

Rocketdinosaurman

OBAMA ROCKS! Viva Dinosaur National Park. Now everyone can stand next to that really huge dinosaur leg bone and get pictures taken next to the creepy coifed park rangers. EXPAND THE GIFT SHOP! Sweet.

environmental wacko

This ought to rile up the freaky radical right.
THEIR taxes going towards natural places the "tree-huggers" like to hang out in.
Limbaugh must be choking on his cigar.

LOL!

Good plan for the economy

For several years the parks have been underfunded in their maintenance. Its time to catch up.

The parks bring in tourists, and tourism is the number one income asset in several western states. Where would Utah be without tourism?

Stimulus Bimbulous

As a conservative, I'm willing to say that a portion of the so-called Stimulus bill was probably a good thing and meritorious. The park service portion is a good thing overall. Good for Utah parks. Yes, give credit where it's due. BUT, what about the other 98% of the bloated 1071 page bill? $5 billion for ACORN, $50 million for endangered rat habitat. The Park Service portion would probably have passed with a majority of Republican support had it been a Stand Alone bill. Instead, Pelosi and Democrats stuffed this porker full of everything and we're still finding out new spending that was tucked in there literally in the dead of night, little debate, no Republican amendments allowed, and no time for anyone to read the bill --rank and file democrats included. It was, and remains, a SHAMEFUL chapter in our Govenment's history, and as more and more comes out about it, it will be even more so.

Common Sense

This is not the most effective way to spend the stimulus money. Sure it creates a few jobs, with the emphasis on few. Why scare everyone into this spending spree because the economy is collapsing, and then put the money into pet projects. Isn't this a whole lot like what liberals are accusing Bush of doing with terrorism. If we really need the stimulus money to be spent immediatley, why are we creating a bunch of temp jobs for college kids who will save it for the upcoming school year. Most will not buy a house to solve some of the housing crisis. Most will not buy a new car to help with the auto industry problems. This does not create any long term benefits such as cheaper and cleaner energy. It is not going to keep fuel prices low to ease the pain of hard working Americans. It is actually not even going to help the environment. I know taxes have not increased yet to pay for this, but I think most people can do a little math. What was the justification for the spending bill?

Pork, Pork, Pork!

If Huntsman wants to take the money, than he too is a thief!

I'm tired of the GOP kowtowing to Obama, Pelosi, and Reid.

Falcon Beacon - A lot of the money they give to the park is going to the private sector. The Forest Rangers are not going to build a new visitor center at Dinosaur Park and they are not going to install Solar Panels on the Zions Visitor Center. The trails will be fixed by mostly college students getting summer work in the forest department.

The National Parks need money - Even us Republicans can see that.

And you more socialism people - No one thinks spending money in the national parks is socialism. No one. Environmental wacko, and more socialism you guys are really witty. I could not stop laughing.

hey all you conserves

DON'T TAKE THE $$$ if you are so full of what is right then do it!! but no you guys will be first in line...as usual so you can get the shiny new car...so in essence you have been bought when you look at the indignity of it all...then speak out the side of your mouth for sure!
