makes sense

It does make sense for kreis to rest olave for a tough road game, but at the same time its olave. He is one of the toughest defenders in the league and has played through pain and injuries in the past. He is the intimidator of the defense and without him they just seem a bit soft. I have never been impressed with horst but maybe davies will be an upgrade.

Pulling Olave was understandable what I questioned was pulling Beltran for the same game and mixing up the back line even more. Hope Davis will come thru as addition to pur back line.

Protect??

You can't protect soccer players. They are super heroes and DO NOT need protection.

I have seen them get slightly bumped (like the player that was bumped my the 65 year old Brazilian coach)and go down. I have even thought at times that a soccer player may have been dead when they are taken off on a stretcher. Low and behold... 5 min later they come running onto the field like nothing happened. It is AWESOME.

That is what makes Soccer so great!!!

LOL

Sounds like "PROTECT??" has a man crush on soccer players!! And rightly so!! They would own him all day long!

If Olave plays on saturday we may have escaped with a point. Horst didn't look terrible, however the 2 mistakes he made were costly led to goals. Horst is young and I'm not ready to give up on him yet, but it'll be nice to have Olave back. Let's get 3 points against the Revs on Saturday!

I guess it's a smart move to rest Olave. But it was terribly dissapointing to not see him play. We are a lot stronger and better defensively when he plays. Not starting Beltran was the right move as he has been terrible so far. I think Cox should start with Olave, Borchers, and Wingert in the back.

RE: Protect

Does passball allow tripping? No, it's a 15-yard penalty. In soccer you can trip an opposing player as long as you get the ball first. Also, soccer players don't wear pads from head to toe. Now, go outside and run at full speed, then have someone trip you, make sure they kick you right in the shin. I'm sure you'll jump right back up. Of course, soccer players are notorious for faking an injury to get a call from the referee and it does hurt the image of the game. Soccer is a physical sport, just ask players who have had a run in with Jamison "Street Fighter" Olave. I'm sure he'd be willing to provide a demonstration if you were to say he was a push over.

STEVE-O

I agree 100% Chadders! Cox is a little rough around the edges but his speed and energy are great for the team.

Olave

Olave says NO! No FieldTurff JK, No, No No!

Russell shouldn't be playing 90 minutes yet. He should come in about the 60 minute mark. He is clearly a smart player but not fit enough yet for the full 90.
Though if I were Kreis here's how I would have RSL lineup:
Seitz
Cox Olave Borchers Wingert
Johnson
Mathis Beckerman
Morales
Movsisyan
Findley
Then I'd have Mathis sub out at 70 minutes for Williams and bring in either Grabavoy(sp?) or Alexandre. Depending on if we are holding a lead or need to score:
Seitz
Cox Olave Borchers Wingert
Johnson
Williams Beckerman
Movsisyan Morales Alexandre

or if we need to just hold onto our lead
Seitz
Cox Olave Borchers Wingert
Johnson
Williams Beckerman
Morales Grabavoy
Movsisyan
We would either have Yura or Findley in depending on who is playing better.

Worth the investment?

So....our new "prized" defender is never going to play on Turf? Wow, that will sure help our road tally.

Bum kneee, headcase, wreckless....give me Borchers any day of the week.

Yep... how did you guess. That is a good one. Did you think of that while you were eating orange slices and drinking Sunny D? Have fun with you kid who can't play any other real sports and has to play soccer, just to feel part of something.

RE, RE

wait, i thought that was what baseball is for? When your kids are fat and can't walk up a flight stairs without breaking sweat to tell you that they need a mcgriddle.

RE

Yeah, isn't it pathetic when play stops and all the soccer players jog to the side line to sit and suck down some oxygen from a tank! I always laugh when I see that.. Oh wait, did I say soccer players?

Pepsiguy

Being a person who has enjoyed playing many sports competitively (i.e. Soccer, football, basketball, baseball, wrestling, volleyball, etc.). I have always found one thing very interesting and it might be the root of most of the hate from all the haters.....

I would say at least 90% of all hard-core soccer players I know can play all three of the "Major" sports competitively. Yet only about 20% of hard-core football, baseball, or basketball players can play soccer and not look completely uncoordinated.

I know that is a generality, and not intended to offend, just an observation...has anyone else noticed that either, or was it just my groups of friends in these particular sports?

Aaron

To everyone their own. But for me and my family, we choose soccer.
There is a reason it is the world's game.
There is a reason it is the beautiful game.
Some people just don't get it and never will. Funny thing is, most of them show their ignorance on message boards. It gives them a voice where none is warranted.

U.S.A. sports fan

People like to antagonize soccer like it is somehow unamerican or socialist or something. It's crazy! I was born and raised in sandy utah, have relatives serving in iraq, and celebrate independance day just like everyone else! Somehow since i play a sport that this particular region doesn't understand I'm now not american. Well i'll see you at the fourth of july parade this summer where i will celebrate my freedom.
Go ReAL!

Alta ski resort hater

See i can do it too!

hmm

resting olave he pretty much knew he was throwing away the game right? That guy is the backbone of our defense.. it would be like the jazz losing D-will.

georg

The worlds game is in Utah, and its here to stay get used to it!!!
