But you just gave your CEO a big fat bonus. Now on the other hand, I'm a CEO and the board basically holds me accountable for the P and L statement. If I don't perform, I'm not rewarded, if I do well then I'm taken care of.........duh!!!
Let's see, didn't Zions get $1.4 BILLION in TARP money? Good thing, because it appears it all got flushed down the toilet in the first quarter. Government intervention at it ever-lovin' best!
Get your facts straight, CEO. Zions' CEO has not taken a bonus for the past two years. If you are going to take shots, at least make sure your facts are in line.
Do any of you bank with zions?? I have money in a zions account, will the bank be there in a month?
Any idiot would know that you don't take a bonus, two years or three if you're in the RED!!!! Get your head out of the sand and enjoy Change and Hope.
How many quarterly losses does it take to recognize mismanagement? The majority of bank loses come from bad strategic decisions, not poor risk selection. What will it take for Zion's Board to finally recognize senior management is the problem and replace them? Will it be necessary for the regulators to make that decision for them?
No mention of the fact Moody's downgraded the senior unsecured debt eight notches from Baa1 to B3? The debt of Zions goes from Investment Grade to High Yield (i.e. junk) status in the blink of an eye and the Deseret News has nothing to say? Wow.
No bonus but his compensation was over a million dollars. He isn't worth it, sort of like the other toxic assets on Zions books.
I'm moving my money market account to Wells Fargo.
How much is management to blame vs. your average Utahn who leveraged his/her personal balance sheet to toxic levels? How many homeowners in Utah are faced with negative equity because of their personal greed? Utah had one of the highest bankruptcy rates in the Union even before the credit crisis. I can only imagine where the state ranks now. The public finds it all too convenient to blame the financial system for their woes, but they didn't seem to have a problem with it when it served their gluttonous borrowing binge.
time to buy this stock and wait for the sustained upswing as there is a lot less on the balance sheet that could be written off. Smart move by Zions and way to squeeze as much out of this loss as possible.
