Let's celebrate the "me" culture of the baby boomers who now need to be paid to volunteer. Haven't they bankrupted this country enough already? Looks like it's time to let the younger generations govern and put the baby boomers out to pasture.
The baby boomers will do OK with this. Especially since those that followed aren't motivated to get away from the video games in their parents' basement.
Baby boomers have done generally well, and are decent citizens ... with outrageous exceptions like GWB, Dick Cheney, Rush Limgbaugh and other American-hating folks.
What exactly is "midlife career transition"? Forced retirement at age 55? Isn't that illegal age discrimination?
If the baby boomers' experience is as valuable as the article states, why shouldn't baby boomers be allowed to continue their valuable contributions in their existing jobs?
What exactly is so different about working in the public, private, and non-profit sectors that someone needs a one-year "internship" to go from one sector to another? The best way to learn a new job is to roll up your sleeves and get to work.
Is it really "volunteer" work if they are paid? Sounds like a new definition that has been made up for the word. Why can't we call it what it really is?
