I actually think this would be kind of cool, might dispel some stereotypes people have in Iran about Americans...if the Flash are good embassadors for us. Put politics aside and go play some basketball! (and win of course)

Show Iran that we will work with them and see just se if little things like sports can't be a lead to having SOME relations with them. How do we know until we accept the offer and try?

Oh sure, of course they should go. What could possibly happen? It's not like anyone in that country has ever taken inocent hostages before. Okay seriously, actually one of the hostage takers back in 1979 was even identified as Amadinajad. (affectionately knicknamed "I'm a nut Job") The players should politely decline and play somewhere eles a bit safer.

There is some risk, but I am all for it. My son is not going by the way. Most likely, things will go well. The Rocky Mountain revue turned out to be something both sides were grateful to participate in. You might remember the Iranian team competing in SLC last summer. I have an appreciation for the history of Iran as I studied it in college up at the U. However, radicals have a long history of denting so called progress in that nation. The people as a whole are more liberated in Tehran (Iran) than anywhere else in the middle East. Beirut Lebenon might make a valid argument to the contrary. Ironically, the muslim radicals in those nations are an opposition to all things western, and make these Shiite nations hotbeds for jihad as well. It's a good thing that the French and American Revolutions worked better in freeing the citizens in the west than what has failed to happen in Iran and Cuba. Sorry for the history rambling, but I am happy the Flash are going to play in Tehran.

As an American who travelled to Iran last summer, I consider Iran a safe place to visit. Iranians love having Americans visit their country. In fact, I felt safer in Iran than some US cities. The people are friendly and courtious. There also a lot of Iranians who speak English. I would encourage any American to visit Iran. The best way for Americans to understand Iran is to visit there and not take someone elses word for it. For any of you who are interested in visiting you can view Rick Steves? visit to Iran to get an idea about how well Americans are treated in Iran.
