For anyone who doesnt know...Giants stadium's turf is much worse than Rice Eccles. So NY hates playing there as much as RSL did in Rice Eccles, yet NY was unable to make Giants stadium the fortress that RSL made R-E. But this game could go either way really with this horrible turf, and rivalries can always spawn games nobody would expect. Some would say RSL have all the pressure on them playing the winless team, but in honestly NY have more of the pressure...they're in a must win situation if they are to prove that last years wasn't a fluke that they're actually going to win anything this year. They're definitely missing out on Dave VDB. RSL has just be complimented with a couple of new signees, so RSL is probably as deep as it will ever get and is possibly the most quality side in MLS right now. Mathis is going to need to step his game up on this turf and use all those years of experience playing here to set up Movsisyan and Findley. Go RSL! Avenge the Rio Tinto fiasco of last year!
There are no ifs, ands or buts about it, RSL needs to win this game to show the rest of the league that they are serious contenders for the MLS cup. Man I wish this team was in the Champions League for this region, I am kind of curious how they would do.
If we can win this one we will have a much more confident team for the remainder of the year.. Start winning on the road and we might win the supporters shield. It needs to start now and what better opponent then the worst team in the league right now. Plz get the WIN!!!
agreed we need to start winning on the road.. If we can win on the road we will be mls cup champs for sure. Break the ny curse already rsl!!!
Maybe the experience of Rice Eccles will pay off.
a weird feeling about this game.
Go GRIZZLIES
Real Salt Lake? I know Salt Lake is a real place, so why does it's existence have to be part of the name? They should have named the team after something American or Utahn like the Kickin' Mormons or the Scorin' Eagles. One reason Americans don't like soccer is because we don't want to be like the rest of the world. "Real Salt Lake" sends that message. I'm American not Spanish.
Im American and I like the name. I like that more soccer teams in the US are going with traditional soccer club names. The names that you came up would embarrass the sport. I sure hope that one day the Kansas City Wizards change their name, I hate that name for a soccer club.
I'm American too, and love the name.
Don't be naive. Isnt this argument like 4 years old?
To Who:
I went to the first game of the playoffs for the grizzlies. How many were there? 2,000 max.
I think more people know about real Salt Lake than the Utah Grizzlies.
how great would it be to finally win against the Red Bulls?
Are you a Utah Jazz fan perhaps? Because honestly I think the Utah Jazz, is sort of stupid name...no offense to basketball or the team, I am a fan of the team...but really what does Jazz have to do with the team? What does Grizzlies or Blaze have to do with Utah either. Also, the little comment you made about being American, not Spanish? Thats possibly the dumbest and most ignorant comment I've ever heard! I feel bad for you, you're the reason people outside of the US (and some inside) think we're very intolerant and ignorant. Thanks for keeping that stereotype going! Great job! Last time I checked being "American" didn't have only one set ethnic/lingual background.
Without David VDB we should roll. If crappy Seattle can put 3 goals on them we should be able to score 4. I'm guessing we win 5-1 or 4-0. Look out MLS here we come.
Oh to stupid name Real Madrid is probably the most famous team name in the entire world. Considering the MLS is a couple of steps below la liga it's not that bad to have almost the same name. It does bug me when people say it Re-Al unless they are talking in Spanish. If you want to say it the spanish way say real de lago salgado or real salt lake (with a spanish accent. If you are going to say it in English either say Real(the normal way) Salt Lake or Royal Salt Lake (the correct translation). I personally say it the normal way Real Salt Lake, though it would be pretty cool if we called em Royal Salt Lake.
only the arrogant ones prefer not to be like others. Fact is, the world is an amazing place one person thinking they are superior or better than others is just arrogance.
