30 cents on every dollar goes to military? And only 10 cents goes to healthcare? What a mess.
I am so disappointed with Deseret News for not reporting on the Tax Day Tea Party today. There were over 700 rallies. A lot of people braved the weather to peacefully assert their first amendment rights in Salt Lake.
Much of the MSM has ignored this historic event or downplayed the numbers involved. I didn't expect this kind of behavior from Deseret News.
This is just a comment about taxes...Truth is, I don't mind paying them so much as I hate trying to figure out what I owe and don't owe. I'm glad Obama is interested in revising the tax code. My idea: a flat tax of 20% (or whatever) on every person and business. Simple!
In this great tax debate, John's observation is important. Health Care - an item I can personally purchase with my own money. I don't need/want government involvement. Military - something I cannot personally provide on my own and therefore pay taxes so the U.S. government can provide that safety. It is a concept we should remember.
