LP Pitching | 9:32 a.m. April 16, 2009
LP can hit the ball well - pitching is another matter this year. Normally strong in the pitching department, LP pitching is giving up a lot of hits and walks which translate into lots of runs. When you have to score 10+ to win, your in trouble. The problem with all the LP pitchers this year is they all struggle with control. In high school, you have to hit spots and not leave the ball out over the middle of the plate - belt high (which is what LP does). You need to work the corners and when you miss - you miss low and not out over the fat part of the plate. High school hitters are good enough to make you pay unless you can throw 90+ mph which most don't. Pitching in high school is all about keeping your team in the game - giving up 5 or 6 is ok but when you approach and era of 10 you're in trouble.

You evidently have no idea what are talking about. The Timp game (22-18) is the only game LP has been involved in this year where there were more than 8 hits by its opponents. LP used 4 pitchers in the game and Timp used 6. There were over 400 pitches in the game on a cold wintery day...It happens. The next game that LP and TImp played both teams through their aces and there were 8 total hits in the game between the 2 teams. LPs record speaks for itself. They have as deep and as good of pitching as any team in the state.

I guess anyone can play for American Fork, no matter what they do.

I will cancel my subscription to the Deseret News both at my Home and Office Monday Morning because you will not let people speak. It's called Freedom of speech! It's no wonder all the newspapers are going under. What happened, did someone from AF call and complain ?

American Fork's Jake Miller slides into home while things are going well for his team, but it wasn't enough to keep Lone Peak from winning.
