Mower

He's such a nice fellow. The picture shown is as serious as Mike ever gets. Pleasure to work with. Competent to boot.

Beware the smiling statist

The difference between the plans Mike Mower makes and the plans you and I make?

Mower gets to employ the government's guns to coerce you and me to do as he says.

Don't be fooled by this political hack's outwardly pleasant demeanor.

How about giving the money back to the taxpayers of Utah as a rebate. We are the ones that stimulate the economy

Cats

Beware the smiling statist: I have known Mike Mower for many years. He is a great guy. He is not a political hack as you put it.

I don't like this so-called stimulus package either. I think the state may live to regret taking it. But, Mike will do the best job possible of doing what's right for the state. Mike is very honest, sincere and hardworking. The governor did a good thing by putting Mike in charge.

So stop being nasty and calling names, okay? Mike will do a great job.

Vigilant

Hope he refuses to take the bait on the "FREE MONEY" that has devious strings attached.

This whole "stimulus" thing is mostly wasteful pork and pandering politicians trying to buy votes.

Utah needs to stay as far away as possible from most of it.

Dooku

The best of luck to him as he is getting thrown into the lion's den with this responsibility....

"Spendulus" funds are nothing more than another way for the government to control the people. Lawmakers are unsure how many jobs will result from the money? The real question they should be asking is how long can Utah support those jobs when the government money dries up?

Tennert said, "If not for this funding that's coming to the state, I believe that the economy would be a lot worse." YES!!! That's what capitalism allows and is ultimately designed to do...allow people, businesses, and even economies, to fail and reset. Then capitalism teaches to pick yourself up and make a better mousetrap! By giving out money like this, we teach America complacency and sloth. Nothing worth living for in this world comes free - our parents knew this, why don't we?

I fear our grandchildren will look to us and ask, "What was it that you valued more than your freedom?" Temporary self-security?

Not Keynesian

The State is doing the right thing. We didn't ask for it, but will be forced to pay for it.

Mike Mower is a great guy. We'll need someone like him to make lemonade out of this mess.

Rick

This is all borrowed money that will all have to be paid back by someone - with interest.

Good luck

Mike. You know the bureaucracy game, either you will be loved or be hated by the people.

citizen of Utah

This is not a job I would want to have, but since I personally know Mike, I am confident he will do well with the assignment.

SanDiego Compadre

As long as the state is being stimulated, I can't think of a better person to be coordinating the whole thing. It's kind of like the young couple who recieves an unwanted wedding gift. You have two choices, re-gift or use it. As taxpayers of this great nation, we are all on the hook for the repayment. We might as well recieve some of the benefit from it. Why give it California, let them benefit from it and then still have to pay for it. Use the money to get the best ROI possible. Mike will do a good job.

I Hope

I do hope he knows how to be a good steward over our money. It is a hard job to oversee a big mistake. This so called Stimulus package is a big mistake.

Blue

You couldn't ask for a better person to handle this assignment. I have known Mike all his life. A genuinely nice guy, smart, honest and competent. He'll do the job right.

Accountability

I trust Mower (and Tennert), too. But a government that prides itself on transparency needs to be transparent about the way it spends the stimulus money. That website sure doesn't do the trick. I hope they'll improve it soon.

mclement

I have know Mike Mower since we were kids. He was then known as the one most likely to succeed in politics. He hasn't changed much since. He is a man of integrity. I know that he will do what is best for Utah as a whole, not what is best for just a few. Good Luck Mike--I have faith in you!!

Ipodfan

He is very nice and a nice man and uncle.
