Bye-Bye Boston Globe

Romney had been bedeviled by the Boston Globe, which, when it can't find something nasty to say about him dutifully invents something nasty to say about him.

But as Nixon said, the Boston Globe won't have Mitt Romney to 'kick around' much longer because the Globe is broke and its corporate parent, the New York Times, is disinclined to save it because the Times has problems of its own.

Libidiots

Isn't the Boston Globe much like the New York times???? Lies, cheats and science fiction!!!!

Even though...

...the Globe may be on it's way out, the truth comes out on Rmoney. If the GOP want's a fighting chance in the next presidential election they'll back a different candidate than Romney. His affiliation with Mormonism puts him at a great disadvantage nationally and the flip flopping will just add to the general perception that GOP candidates are untrustworthy.

Rmoney...

...in the previous post was a typo, albeit a Freudian typo

Newspapers going out of business does not change the truth about Mitt Romney. He flip flops on the issues depending on what group he is addressing and what he thinks they want to hear. There is still going to be TV, radio and the internet to report on his addresses. Fewer people read newspapers anyway.

Poor, Mitt, most people would peg him as a moderate conservative, but by pandering to the far right he has completely destroyed his credibility. His far-right stance has also damaged his image on the Mormon question. Since most Americans aren't that familiar with Mormonism a non-threatening MODERATE Mormon, like Huntsman, wouldn't face near the religious scrutiny that scarey, right wing Romney has. Also the moderates that Huntsman will attract aren't as fanatical about one's religion as the inflexible, ultra-conservatives, that Romney is trolling for.

Romney flip-flops - this is news why? Oh- that's right, because as Utahns we are supposed to have forgotten all the many OTHER times/issues he has flip-flopped on.

Romney's positions wrong

Two key things that won't do for a future Romney president is (1) his opposition ot wind power in Massachusetts and (2) his opposition for fuel efficiency standards in Detroit. Both positions were wrong in 2008, and if he doesn't flip-flop on these old, tired positions, he doesn't stand a chance for the presidency.

Both positions are interconnected in that the path to freeing us from our oil dependency centers on Detroit launching plug-in hybrid/electic cars (to reduce our oil needs) that will require new sources of clean electricity (wind, solar, geothermal) that will not bear the burden of carbon taxes or restrictions. Sure, Romney will say he opposes carbon restrictions -- but rest assured, they're in place already around the world, and America will have them by 2012.

Retoric about not believing in global warming or that fuel efficiency standards will hurt Detroit will sound like a throw back to 20th century GOP talking points...

Romney needs to flip-flop away from some stale GOP positions that will be irrelavent in 2012. Huntsman has already staked his claim to green innovation and renewable energy. What's left for Romney?

lame...empty...vain...

he went that-a-way, wait,...no, he went that-a-way, wait, wait, no,....he went to the mirror,....he's checking himself out in the mirror!..again.

Amazed

Why are you folks so anxious to label Mitt Romney as a flip-flopper? He doesn't hold a candle to President Obama who has flip-flopped so many times since he became President that I have lost count. If you haven't noticed, you just don't want know the truth. I am amazed that you would even want to mention the subject.

Socialism

It's much better to than "FLIP" like Mitt, than to "FLOP" like Obama!!!!!

Cougar Blue

At least Huntsman has credibility----Romney, nada!!

History Nut

Leave it to the Romney supporters to ignore the issue and blame the messenger.

Romney is a flake - meaning he will switch positions and redefine himself as it suits his purpose. He has no core beliefs. Even his explanations of Mormonism during the campaign was so watered down as to make it unrecognizable.

Invisible Hand

Hopefully immigration won't be an issue by the next election because both parties will have come to a reasonable solution. The hispanic vote is a big swing group and to have a chance the Republicans need to compete. Romney made a big mistake when he aligned with the anti-immigrant fringe, and it may be one flip-flop too many at this point to change back.

Professor

The issue is really about the Hispanic's view of the future, not some politician promising the world while delivering a ghetto. (Ever been to a project?)

Hispanics can join the entitlement crowd and become slaves forever, or they can take a path of self sufficiency, self termination morality and liberty, which will lead to a bright future. I hope my children and grandchildren are not seduced political vanity and choose the bright future.

Why can't a person change their mind? It seems that a person who can learn and change direction, if necessary, is better than one who cannot. I am not sure why it is a weakness.

Huntsman will need to do much more than photo opportunities to be a serious presidential candidate. His wife and father are stronger candidates right now.

Indiana

>"Romney believes that one way to attract more minorities to the GOP is to pass immigration reform before the next election, saying the issue becomes demagogued by both parties on the campaign trail." The article also quotes Romney as saying, "We have a natural affinity with Hispanic-American voters, Asian-American voters."<

Well, the first pat of this statement wasn't even spoken by Romney, it was a postulation on his position and the second half? what is wrong with having an affinity with anyone? Romeny is a man of acceptance and he still is tough on ILLEGAL immigration. The truty is, those who want to hate him or demean him as most of the above commentors will do so no matter what is said. Now, an inability to see good in an individual? that is VERY SAD!

He has a great position on immigration: enforce the law and make friends with those who abide by the law whether that abiding is now or after they go home and come back legally.

Romney is a great man and would do wonders for America. His religion is only a bonus in my eyes.

God bless America . . . with Mitt Romney!

wow

This says more about the Globe than Romney
I would still gladly take Romney over Huntsman

Indiana

to wow: Me too!

thehill has been twisting Romney around for years and so does the Globe, this is nothing new...

You libs

are afraid of Romney because you know he's the only one capable of putting the economy back in shape and re-establising principles of accountability in our country. That would whip things into shape and he would be re-elected, unlike Obama who will be canned after 4 years because he's as shallow and incapable as the Wizard of Oz.
