I wonder how the "War of Words" will play out for those who "post" on this bit of news?? The battle between Liberals Vs Conservatives, Commies Vs Fascists, dittoheads Vs Socialists, Etc Vs Etc. Did I forget any label to give to your opponent?? A MADD background is sure to make many mad.
I wonder how much Mr. Hurley knows about bridge safety, highway snow fences, traffic control devices and other major infrastructure which makes our highways safe? It seems to me that while being passionate about alcohol and drug abuse behind the wheel may be important, it certainly would not qualify him for all the other criteria required for this position!
I would liken Mr. Hurley's appointment to hiring a minister to be the superintendent of a construction project. That minister might very well manage to establish a good and moral work-ethic on the project, but the quality of the structure, coordination of subcontractors, and suppliers would probably all be compromised.
I would suggest Mr. Hurley be hired as head of a branch of the department and serve under a director who's qualifications are much more well-rounded. I fear that putting such a nominee in charge would net us an overall decline in quality and safety of our nation's highway system.
