2 cities consider ways to put builders back to work

Why would you want to keep building these rabbit dwellings and loosing all your open space?

Cities should not be getting involved with private business or business dealings. Why do these city planners continously use taxes to fund businesses? They must learn to be patient and allow the market to recover at its own pace. What good is it to build homes when no body wants to buy them at inflated prices and corrupt lending? Patience can go a long ways to recovery and there will be no quick recovery, consumers are the force they have to recon with, not the needs of business or construction. Cities should start focusing on citizen friendly government in the future, after all they represent the citizens, by constitution anyway.

There are a lot of existing homes available out there right now. It doesn't make sense to build, build, build when there are so many brand new, never-been lived in homes in so many neighborhoods in so many cities. Why cities would give incentives to builders to build more homes that could sit empty doesn't make any sense to me.

Hey Mapleton and Salem guess what? If your revenues from home building are down your expenditures should also go down. What a novel concept! Every city should operate on a cash basis and adjust yearly budgets accordingly (ie. Tyler Texas). I can't believe a city is trying to entice people to FINANCE impact fees over 30 year loans. If anyone takes this offer they are STUPID, STUPID, STUPID. These city leaders should be reprimanded for such a selfish and ridiculous proposal. You've got enough houses to sell as it is.
