After John L Smith, Coach Weatherby qualified them for a bowl and then took off for the Naval Academy
Smith was after Weatherby.
Anderson will have the Aggies beating coach brocno within two years.
Weatherbie was before John L
My dream for this year is that USU upsets Utah--it's about time. Still, the Aggies will be lucky to win 4 games this year.
I see the Aggies winning 4 WAC games. plus SUU this year.
The start of the climb back to respectability.
6-6 would exceed my expectations and is best case scenario for this team. 8 wins is a far reaching stretch. Personally I see the Ags going 5-7 in Andersen's 1st year. Which is still a considerable improvement for this team. The wins will come over SUU plus 4 WAC opponents. Look for an above .500 season in 2010.
They have a realistic shot at 5 wins this year, which would be a major step forward. SUU, New Mexico State, Louisiana Tech, San Jose, and Idaho. Fresno State would be a major bonus and would make them bowl eligible, but doesn't mean they get a bowl game. 5 wins would mean they would have to win 3 home games and 2 road games. If they get that done, I will be pleased with the progress.
No one will be able to score on USU with Anderson at the helm. USU will go undefeated and will join the Pac-10.
Go State!
"but the schedule will again be a tough one with few "easy" wins for USU to look forward to."
I think as long there is another team lining up across from the Aggies, there will be no easy wins and perhaps no wins at all.
Ahh, the delusional Aggie fans, ever optimistic, but never realistic. They are a terrible team in a terrible conference. Any win this year will be an upset.
4 or 5 wins seems realistic this year. with the WAC seemingly on the decline a good coach should be able to do some damage in that conference and get bowl eligable in 2 or 3 years. That is what I hope for the Aggies.
I would gladly take that bet.
7:30 pm November 20? How cold is it going to be for the espn game?
The Average high temp in Logan on NOvember is a high of 42 degrees and the average low temp is 20 degrees.
It will be a great game no matter what the temp!
Ahh, the delusional Cougar fans, ever optimistic, but never realistic.
Remember the "Quest"?
Big game that night, we need to make sure we have more fans then Boise that night. haha we will see.
Listening to Coach Andersen's interviews over spring drills are very revealing.
It seems to me that Andersen is concerned that defensively. This team is not ready to carry out his defensive plan in full. Nor will it be ready until he can get some of his recruits in place who fit his mold. At a minimum, we're looking at 2 years to get Andersen's defense running full at speed.
Offensively, he sounded a little more optimistic that he had athletes in place who are talented enough to start having "some" success immediately. I highlight the word "some" success because, again, because again successful recruiting needs to take place to mold the offense into what Andersen's needs.
But Andersen know's how to recruit and just down right coach. I think the kids he is bringing in will make an impact immediately. And I think he'll have these kids motivated and performing to the best of their abilities. I see this team struggling to get a 5-7 record but only see improvement after that.
Give Coach A 2 seasons before a winning record comes to Logan.

Nice comeback, but kind of funny. BYU had 10 wins for the 3rd straight year. Expecting 12 or 13 and getting 10, I can live with that.
USU fans expecting 8 and getting 2, a little different.
10 wins, can you imagine. I know... I know the aggies have won 10 games......... since 2003.

Well said by '1980's Aggie' as well. +1 on both counts for me. That said, this is progress; it'll be tough and it's unlikely to happen quickly. But ya gotta start somewhere. Go Ags.
4-8 would be an accomplishment
