Go Utes and win the NCAA Championship!
These young ladies have worked hard their whole lifes and deserve to WIN and WIN BIG!!!
Having had daughters in gymnastics, I know of the dedication it takes to get to this level. I marvel at the degree of accracy and concentration it takes to perform at our team's high level.
The best to all of you in the tournament and especially to Baskett and Kim!!!!
GO UTES and make us proud!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
BYU football was attacked all year by the Ute fans for their Quest for Perfection t-shirts and slogan - but what's worse, trying to have a perfect season, or actually claiming yourself the "2009 National Champs"?!
If you are a Ute fan who berated BYU's quest, then you must do the same to this claim by the Ute gymnasts.
Looks like stupidity (yes, BYU's slogan was stupid) knows no school bounds.
Bro, BYU is full of chumps, that is why Ute fans berated the so called "Quest For Perfection." Utah Gymnastics can do whatever they want. They are beautiful and talented, something BYU does not have going for them. Go Utes!
My little brother!!!!
"STUPIDITY is in the EYE of the beholder!!!!!"
You must have a lowwwwwww self-esteme?
This artical is about gymnastics, NOT the YEWT
Coug wanna beeeeeees football team!
Take a couple of mydols and get some rest, you will feel better tomorrow....
You asked what is worse, proclaiming yourself champions, or trying to be perfect. I would say that perfection is worse.
But I do agree that this is bad. It is a motivational thing, but I think it makes opposing teams angry, and can blow up.
At least if they don't accomplish there goal, they won't claim that it was something else like the Cougars did.
They will hold themselves accountable for not accomplishing their goal, unlike the Cougs.
Good luck this weekend. We already have our Nebraska trip planned.
Go Utes!!! Bring the National Championship back to Salt Lake City where it belongs! It is a wonderful thing to bring all of that positive material to your team. When you write down your goal, and wear it and show it, it will become a reality!!! You girls really believe and that is all it takes!!! Go Red Rocks!
Where are the Cougars ? Something like 56 nationally. Don't e berating the Utah they have proven a quality program and yet BYU has contacts world wide and cant pass muster.
Better off not said form a wyner fan.
They will hold themselves accountable for not accomplishing their goal, unlike the Cougs.
And what is this quote about ?
Geez you in Utah County scramble at anything to make no sense or reason out of a Utah article.
That Ute slogan is WORSE than BYU's quest for perfection. BYU simply wanted to go undefeated, but never proclaimed themselves the "National Champions"! Oh yeah, it's okay if the U. does it, but no other teams, especially the hated Cougars of BYU, can have high aspirations! I hated BYU's football slogan as much as the next guy, but get real, some Ute fans are just as hypocritical as some of the Coug fans!
If the Quest for Perfection was a bad idea, then this t-shirt idea is HORRIBLE!
If they weren't so cute? I doubt it
I'm really pulling for the Utes to win that elusive title this spring, but this has "bulletin board material for Georgia" written all over it... I hope Kristina, Nina and the rest of the girls prove me wrong.
Ute Slogan Worse 10:56 am
What are you talking about? BYU fans have proclaimed their football team national champs every year for the last 23 years. The prophesies generally begin in July.
Bring it home, we're pulling for you!!
is that the Utah gymnastics team is a perennial contender for the national championship...BYU's football team is, well...
I would have preferred the tee shirts to stop at "New Year...Our Year! but so what...they are always a contender.
Get it done, UTES!!!
The Utes finished #2 the last three years!!!! Good grief, give them a break. The only other place for them to go is #1 so why not make it a clearly defined goal.
The problem w/ BYU's idiotic slogan was that they were never close to #1 in anything, so once again they pounded their PRESEASON chests claiming their quest.
Huge difference.
Good luck girls!!!! Hope you win!!!!
Go Red Rocks!!!!!
#1 is yours this year!!!!
I love that post! Right on target!
Go Utes!!!!!!!
BYU's quest for perfection is completely different than the quest for a National Championship. One requires no mistakes, the other requires consistent effort. Perfection is unattainable, while a championship is a measurable goal. Perfection creates a pressure atmosphere and individual mistakes cost the entire team, a championship allows for missteps along the way, but a team who is going to back you up. So let's not compare the two.
The funny thing about BYU's quest is once they lost to TCU they no longer had an identity. The U's slogan/goal is at least oriented toward the last meet of the year.
