Free the animals...and put the activists in their cages.
Jeremy and Jordan | 10:17 a.m. March 31, 2009
are a nuisance specie of humans. they think like animals in human form therefore, need to be kept under survelience and control. They, as a specie are off the wall. Lock them up and feed them, however their hides are worthless so what to do with them is the question? I suppose we should just be kind to them and feed them as we do to other loathsome creatures.
Idiot Activists | 10:33 a.m. March 31, 2009
I wish these activist would realize that their terroristic activities do nothing but turn the public against them. If you want real change start by changing your attitude not by causing the deaths of animals. A lot of the minks had to be put down for health/ injury reasons. Come up with viable solution not just hate crimes and stripping in public and maybe I'll take you seriously.

Animal rights activist are pitiful life forms. They care nothing of animals as was demonstrated by the terrorist that murdered the mink in many of their raids. No cause, real or imaginary, justify attacking innocent people and their property. No intelligent reason is ever presented when criminals practice their trade, whether its blowing up the World Trade center or murdering mink in Kaysville. It is all the same. This is a HATE crime performed by terrorist and should be punished by years in Federal Prison. It doesn't surprise my that the"U" would pay a terrorist $500.00 for his terrorist behavior. Here, a police officer is trying to protect people from animals, and the "U" sides with terrorist. Go Figure! No intelligent person can take this clowns serious in a fabricated cause that is unfounded in fact.
I agree that we should put these clowns in a cage and do research on these terrorist except that the quality of the subjects would lose credibility. The animals are smarter.
histarical nonsence | 1:00 p.m. March 31, 2009
It's funny how you decry two people who have never even been accused of violence or property destruction as terrorists (guilty of hate crimes), Yet you yourself make threats of violence and torture against them. You wring your hands at the possibility of some of the released mink from Kaysville and S. Jordan dying in the wild, yet you say nothing about the millions of minks needlessly killed on Utah fur farms every year. Is it just me or is the pot calling the kettle black?

This guy deliberately set free all these caged (MINK)from their cages, who relied totally on humans for food and water to survive. The Mink never had to fen for themselves before this happened and the little Mink did not learn the skills of wild mink at birt to fen for themselves, so they all died.

Those who refuse to obey natural law, like these terroristic animal activists, have placed themsleves beyond its protection.

Why do conservatives, who are America's real domestic terrorist hate America?

We live in a nation of laws that was born from the seeds of protest. These people were never convicted of any crime. Conservatives hate our constitution with its rights against self incrimination, due process and the presumption of innocence.

Reading these hate fulled comments makes these defenders of animals look morally superior to those attacking them.
Animal phonies | 6:13 p.m. March 31, 2009
It takes a real killer to subject many human raised Mink to the aliments to starve to death and die from unnatural causes...totally disgusting and shameful.

I notice that the activists on these posts are the most belligerent and hostile people that post. I know that I would never trust my animals with any of them.
Right or Wrong | 6:49 p.m. March 31, 2009
It's not a perfect system but it's the best. You want to achieve something, you HAVE to work the system, not violate it. ALF still kills animals in the process of trying to "SAVE" them...figure out a better, LEGAL, way

The FACT is you CANNOT destroy property of another without the due process you hide behind too. In a Federal Grand Jury case you don't get to plead the 5th amendment so of course this other guy is going to be held in contempt... that IS the system working.

The U only settled the case because it is cheaper to pay the guy $500 then spend $40,000+ in legal fees etc. It has NOTHING to do with who was right and who wasn't.

The guy should have put his money to better use. Donate the $500 to the humane society so they don't have to put MANY animals down that just need more time to find a home. Do something PRODUCTIVE to save animals. Go lobby in politcal arenas to make the changes you are trying to achieve. You are just alienating others who might otherwise be sympathetic to your cause.

Neither Jeremy or Jordan have been convicted or accused of releasing mink. Maybe you should read the post before commenting. Secondly the ALF didn't "murder mink to save them" that is a total mis-representation of the facts. Opening cages of non-domesticated native animals -- giving them the chance to escape certain death on the farm -- is not "murder" but an act of compassion and altruism.

My husband worked security at one pont and had to protect a mom and her children from ALF attacks at their home because the husband/dad works in animal research facilities.

How is that not terrorism?

The truth is, he wasn't even detained. The officer simply touched him on the arm/shoulder.
This guy should be ashamed of himself.

the actions by animal and eco-activists have never injured or killed any person in 30 yrs. Nervousness that a vivisector feels about a demonstration outside of their home is trifle when set against the agony and torture they inflict to afford the upper-crust excesses of the American superiority complex.

Saluting the fur farmers right of ownership of property, that is actually conscious animals, and endorsing the suffering & certain death is backwards if you want to concern yourself with the mink's best interest. Of coarse that is counter-intuitive logic and obviously the mink have a greater chance of longevity in the wild.

At a fur animal concentration camp, mink are dying by the unnatural means of neck-breaking, gassing, poison injection or anal electrocution at around 5 months of age. Many are skinned while alive and still conscious. Who is wrongest?
Too sad | 1:20 p.m. April 2, 2009
I am so sad for the Mink that died due to that hands of this criminal. Breaking and entering is a crime. And now the Mink are dead from starvation and bad winter conditions.

Mr. Bass is dead right on. Officer Richards put his arm around the kid for a picture when the young man came up to him with a camera. The University settled this case for nusance value only. $500 is not a vindication for ALF.

So, ARAs show up at a private family residence wearing hoods and they expect to be treated like innocent civil protesters? I support every citizens right to free speech and peaceful assembly, but these folks are making mockery of the bill of rights, intentionally inciting an unproductive confrontation with their choice of location and attire. That's not protest, that's terrorism.
You Miss the Point | 5:55 p.m. April 2, 2009
Once again in these biased posts that most in my opinion are abusive, offensive, off-topic and misrepresent what this article was really about and what really happened. I don't know why whom ever monitors these posts has allowed them to remain or to be posted. It is funny how bitter people can get. Bottom line in this case was that the officer did something wrong, and though it may be a pittance to what really happened, the fact is for the record the suit was settled.

Mr. E T BASS & KENT are know it all's!
hahaha | 2:56 p.m. April 6, 2009
"Officer Richards put his arm around the kid for a picture when the young man came up to him with a camera" Kent, are you kidding me? The entire incident is on film. Officer Richards was anything but gentle and friendly when he was violently shaking and harrassing Jeremy. He even refused to stop touching him after being asked repeatedly to...Get your facts straight.
