ZERO comments for Mitt in UTAH....ouch
1570+ comments for Glenn Beck.....ouch OUCH

Lean left

I wonder if not doing anything for the next four years is going to hurt his chances. I admittedly am not familiar enough with history to know whether others have been successful after periods of inactivity. But I'm sure other candidates will attack this. I wonder if he can find some cause similar to Gore to keep him in the limelight and make the appearance that he is contributing to the overall good. I think doing the fund raisers for the Republicans is one good thing but that doesn't seem to keep him in front of the general populace enough. California governor? Working with Obama on something? Just throwing out ideas.

No need to worry or comment on Romney as he has it well under control. He has a large support base (and growing) and will be a force in 2012. I think the book will go along way to cement a way forward for the country and will actually be a basis for his 2012 campaign.
He's got my vote!

Biggest Problem

I like Mitt, I know members of his family and want to vote for him, but he has yet to really tell me in a powerful way WHY I should vote for him. He hits all the conservative buttons, but not in a powerfully persuasive way. He doesn't sound like he passionately believes those policies, but more like he is ticking boxes to appeal to a base of voters.

I know he has the right values and lives them, but I don't yet see the connection between what he feels inside and how he wants to lead this country. I would like to see him re-invent conservatism since it has been hijacked by the religious right and people who don't don't think OR feel that deeply (including, sadly, many in Utah).

I also have a huge problem with his one term governorship and not doing anything since. Oh well, Reagan also was a one-termer. I don't see Mitt yet becoming a symbol for any great movement as Reagan did. He needs to make find his voice.

Socialism

Mitt Romney will have a big task on hands to undo the debacle this worthless administration is doing now, if he were to become President.

Beck ROCKS!

Good for Mitt, to be doing what he's doing. Thanks for the update.

Mitt definitely has my vote...As a Californian, I am amazed at the number of people I speak to who express their support for Mitt Romney. For any skeptics out there, these people are not LDS. When you consider the economic train wreck Obama is orchestrating, it will take someone like Mitt to return our nation back to prosperity!

Starboard Side

Too early to tell whether Mitt has a chance in 2012. It depends largely on how successful President Obama is between now and then. If the economy doesn't improve, I think he's a shoe-in. Who else are you going to pick...on EITHER side...who knows more about how to fix broken financial situations that Mitt Romney, the turn-around guru?

I found it very telling last October, when the economy really started to tank, when I got a phone call from a died-in-the-wool liberal Democrat friend from Chicago telling me he wished Romney had still been in the race. Romney was the only one of all the primary candidates, Democrat or Republican, he believed could right this capsized vessel. He took the words right out of my mouth.

Why?

...is this a story? The population in Utah just can't get over the fact that OBAMA won. Mitt didn't come close. DN- 2012 is a long way down the road, please don't keep writing about him- after all OVEREXPOSURE can hurt him, even in UTAH!

To the writers that can't stop drooling over Mitt- why are you so obsessed? HE LOST!

Selling His House In Utah

Yeah- all the right moves, maybe if he distances himself from the LDS he won't look so --weird to everyone outside Utah.
Mitt is as transparent as glass.. He doesn't need to campaign here or even live here- he already has 95% of the states votes. Blind faith!

Idaokie

Oh (sigh), what might have been....
Can we wait four years????

yikes!

And I thought the presidential race for 2008 was a long-winded and winding road.

Right now we are in the Dark Ages of American Politics with the worst President in our history at the helm. We need to do everything we can to slow the tide of Socialism that is washing away our liberties at an alarming rate.

Mitt is the right man for the job in 2012. I believe he will win over people who were formally prejudiced against a Latter-Day Saints candidate. A dream ticket would be Mitt/Palin. With this great team we could increase our freedom and prosperity.

Please encourage everyone you know who isn't registered to get registered and let us take back America from the people who now are trying to destroy her. God Bless America with people like Mitt Romney who will give their time and money to preserve and rebuild this great nation.

Mitt - Sarah....

in 2012. Mitt and Sarah will have lots of campaign issues by the time the dems are done mucking things up.

Perhaps by 1012 certain elements of the heavily biased mainstream media will be out of business and unable to spread their distortions, half-truths and outright lies.

Here is a Mormon who hopes this idiot does not run and would not vote for him, ever. He is not presidential material and would be a disaster for our Nation. He signed into law 'gay marriage' in Massachussets and his Church did not oppose it as in California. He is an opportunist, not a 'saint'.

Mit, go for it! Gain endorsements from key conservative politicans & business leaders, go for early support from Beck, Rush, Hannity and others and you will WIN!!

Paint yourself to the conservative base early and you will win!!

Conservatives need a unifying leader that can emerge now!! If you could do that, the political revolution would start in the 2010 congressional elections.

It must start now!

Re: Selling his house in Utah.

I have never owned a house in Utah, yet I love Utah, and I love the Church. Selling off a winter home that recently had been burglarized does not constitute "distancing oneself" from Utah.

democrat

Once mittney is in the race, the perception of a democratic vote in utah changes from socialist to bigoted. yay.

Florida Mormon

It just isn't happening folks .. There will not be a Mormon president any time soon .. the suspicion of us and general held belief outside of the church that we are just a twisted, polygamous cult is too pervasive in societies outside of Utah to overcome as we saw early in the Republican races last year .. it's a pity because Mitt is by far the best candidate but down here in the bible belt he is on a par with Charles Manson or David Koresh .. it's that bad and very sad

Perhaps both Brother Romney and Brother Huntsman will have presidential aspirations. There is a difference - Brother Romney is heading right, and Brother Huntsman is heading left. I find it a bit ironic that Brother Huntsman came out in support of civil unions AFTER he was elected to his 2nd term. Hmmmm, the thought of civil unions never crossed his mind while campaigning for his first term, during his first term and while campaigning for his second term - even whilst Prop 8 was being vigorously debated?

Frankly I find those actions a bit disingenuous and perhaps a spring board...
