Nobody cares about soccer so quit shoving it down our throats. Reminds me of when the Utah Starzz were in town and how "exciting" that was.
...leave me be.
Tell that to the 30,000 fans at the game.
Hating something is caring. Sad, to be sure, but it's still an emotional involvement.
The question then is, why the emotional involvement from all the soccer haters?
He came in for the last 20 or so, and looked very fit, and ready to join in the attack.
Seattle looked solid.
RSL makes me worried, can we score?
RSL is going to have a great season, they couldnt get a feel of the ball on Turf and wet turf to top it off, battle well fought RSL lets get that record even on april 2nd!
I'd hope that's not the game plan. I hope on Thursday Findley actually shows up to the game. If we win and it's fun enough my wife will probably be up for us getting season tickets. Please get it together gents. I really wish we'd play Seitz already. Please, please, please play him. I can't stand watching Rimando letting in goals that have no business being goals. Plus I really wish he would communicate with Olave and Borchers more. The GK should be like the defensive captain. The only thing Rimando does is points the finger. How much longer do we have to watch it? At least our 2 rookies looked good. Cox was a huge improvememnt and Alexandre held position very, very well. I'll see ya at the RioT. GO RSL
It was really agonizing watching Real in that first half. Although they were clearly the better team in the second half, I am worried if we will have the scoring ability again this year. Scoring was the big weakness for Real last year and I am hoping that won't be the case again this year.
Playing at home should hopefully give them a lot more confidence.
A couple of thoughts. My first impression is... here we go again - inability to finish our opportunities. We go 0-fer on our good scoring chances and Seattle was 2 out of 3 (Nice reaction save by Rimando prevented them from going 3 out of 3).
Re: Well
I agree with Well's comment about Seitz. I think a taller keeper gets to the 2nd goal by Montero. That was a sweet strike nonetheless. With regards to Alexandre, I can't see how you could say much at all about him. He came in in the 90th minute, so he played a total of about 2 minutes.
Overall, I think we'll be alright. I'd sure like to see us finish a few chances on Thursday. I'll be at the RioT in my claret and cobalt!
The game at Seattle was sloppy. Borchers and Beltran are lost defenders. Morales was out of shape. Findley was running away from the ball like a chicken with his head cut off. Movsisyan cannot finish to save his life, but at least he has a touch and can create space.
We will get better. We need to stop sending long balls over the top. Our outside backs have no vision and touch and they don't move off the ball to open up for the midfielders under pressure.
ReAl SAlt LAke; we wanna nother goal! ReAl, ReAl
Forward is a problem. Was it a sign that "Gordo" is out of the mix as well when they subbed Williams on as a forward?
Was Espindola let go because of injuries or does this team have no money to pay his contract? They won't answer that question I'm sure.
The Espindola as a starter, Findley as the killer speed late in a game sub was awsome. Findley as a 90 minute starter never has worked well.
This team has looked at several forwards in the offseason, but all came and left. El Kahlifi seems to still be waiting for a phone call. Is this team out of money to buy players?
How long is Robbie Russel going to be out?
I don't know how many unforced errors were committed by Mathis and Beckerman. For a good part of the game, RSL played on a 50yd wide field with no substantial effort to create width and space.
Defensively we looked hopeless...especially in the first half...no organization and communication. Every high ball was challenged by a Sounders player, and the knock-down went to Seattle almost everytime...perhaps people are not running as hard as they should be. Could be a tough year with no offensive creativity.
Findley did not look good up top. Lets start Andy and Morales together as attacking mids with the ability to both rome free and switch around. Combined with Yura this could be a solid triange combination.
this is just a .500 team. Yes, they got hot at the right time last season, but overall, the expectations shouldn't be that high for an average team.
Typical Utah pro sports team. Try hard, scrabble some decent players together, but never the difference making player, make the playoffs, here and there make a run at something special but always fall short.
Until a Utah team actually shells out for a bona-fide super star and gives him the role players he needs around him, we will never see a champion.
Columbus went and got Schelotto, gave him some good young talent to compliment him and in two years they are lifting the cup. nuf said

Well, they lost 5 out of their first 9 last year. . . and then lost only 5 times the rest of the year. Based on the progress over the course of the season, they *should* be an above .500 team this year. This is why most of the pundits picked them to finish 3rd or 4th in the league.
Was I the only one who did a double-take to see Keller in goal for the Sounders? How does an expansion team pick up Keller? Any analysis of the game that doesn't take into consideration that the Sounders have a keep who, at his prime, was arguably one of the top five keepers in the world. He may not be at his prime, but any team is going to have a hard time putting something past him.
RSL probably didn't deserve to win, anyway, considering how ugly they looked in the first half, but I'm just saying that failing to score on Keller is not the same as failing to score on your average MLS goalie.
Keller is 39 and wants to be close to his childhood home in Lacy WA. He did a great job keeping out the two or three shots that were good opportunities. But he was not the reason why RSL could not generate good chances...the utter lack of control of the ball was the biggest problem. Poor control and poor passing in the offensive third doomed RSL.
Article was great. Thanks for the coverage and we're all looking forward to Thursday's home opener.
