Disappointed Fan | 10:34 p.m. March 26, 2009
I happened to be taking friends from out of town to see the Tabernacle Choir practise tonight. We got there late. We took our sweet time taking pictures in the loby of the conference center. When we walked in I noticed people huddled around in a group. I thought maybe an aposle was there but I could not see any old people in the group. We unintentionally walked close by and found out that David Archuleta was taking pictures. We were within 25 feet of him. It was a small crowd, maybe 10 people. To my disappointment, as soon as I noticed him, he started leaving. We found out later that he sung to the choir before we got there. I wish the staff would have told us we were missing out on David A when were taking pictures outside.

David you are doing great. Good luck with your performance tonight here in West Valley. Remember not to forget who you are and where you came from. In other words don't get so big in popularity that you forget those at home who helped get you where you are now. Stay humble.

I have been having David withdrawals since I saw him last in Chicago. Tonight is going to be fantastic! I sure wish I could've afforded the trip to Utah! ( kinda far away from Michigan)!
GO BIG D! We'll see you this summer!

We miss David on American Idol! It is not the same without David Archuleta. He was so cute. Best wishes to David A.

mission? | 11:05 a.m. March 27, 2009
is he planning on serving a mission?
Anonymous | 12:23 p.m. March 27, 2009
I feel he is already serving a mission. He can realy make a difference just being an example while on his tours. With the attention he gets he will always be a missionary.
Positive Influence | 12:27 p.m. March 27, 2009
David sang and talked at an LDS Fireside in Boise while on tour.

He has a great heart. He talked with every person that attended the fireside afterwards.

He is very kind hearted.

Young people need good role models like David who encourage young people to set goals, dand o good things in life that bring happiness. Education, good values, being spiritual, etc.

Thank you David.

Hope he's aware he has a following of middle aged folks who would really enjoy hearing him do a CD with possibly some broadway or other great musical pieces.

All the great things said here about David are felt by many of us.
I saw him March 2 in Northampton MA, and the whole experience (blizzard and all!)was the BEST!! David was in great spirits that night, and the whole band etc...class act all the way.
David continues to amaze and delight me with his musical gifts, hard work & dedication, and sincere spirit...he is a complete ORIGINAL! Go David...tonight will be awesome...I wish so much I could have seen this final, home state concert..thank goodness for You Tube!
Hope he takes some well deserved time off after...and I look forward to seeing him again in concert soon.
Enough of mission questions | 1:56 p.m. March 27, 2009
First off, it's between him and God.

Secondly, it didn't hurt Donny Osmond's popularity when he didn't go.

There are plenty of wonderful people who are church members who haven't served missions. And there are terrible members who have.

I don't believe that this is about AI. I'm sure you can find a thread that talks about that. This is about David A. not the girl from Utah now on AI. But, you are righ about one thing...she can't sing.

and be an example for all the LDS youth.

He would be a fool to give up two years of his prime to do something as silly as preach the 'true' word to strangers....

This lad has a lot of talent and a pleasing persona and I enjoy listening to his music and wish him every success.
To the LDS' who want to put him on a pedestal saying comments like "he is already serving a mission" "what a good role model/example" should beware. His talent will bring him challenges eg should I work on the Sabbath? (his tour in UK includes Sunday gigs)should I serve a mission?
I am sure he is a good church member but I can't find anywhere in the scriptures that exempts celebrities from living the commandments. He is a normal youth, admire him but don't idolise him!
Beulah Astle | 7:36 a.m. March 28, 2009
David, I am way past my middle age years, and I love your singing and your personality. I too, like the middle age group would like to see you make an album of Broadway shows and musicals. I feel you can sing anything. Thanks for bringing such joy to us. I loved you on Idol, and was sorry to have it end. Keep up the good work.
Mission | 8:41 a.m. March 28, 2009
I believe Donnie Osmond didn't serve a mission because his popularity would have brought young girls into the church who didn't really believe. I read somewhere that his music was his mission. I'm sure it will have to be the same for DA.
Anonymous | 8:45 a.m. March 28, 2009
David, you are an example for all of us. Yes, I hope you will choose to serve a mission for the Church. Jesus is the Lord, and there is no higher calling than that of a missionary. I have a grandson on a mission in Wyoming, and I feel you would be a perfect missionary wherever you are sent. Your voice will be with you wherever you go. From a grandma in California.
Go David!! | 12:14 p.m. March 28, 2009
Many of the comments I am reading speculate on a mission for David. Every member is already called to be a missionary. We support whatever decision he makes...but, a mission call comes from only one person. Being very well-known as a 'good' person, can only be an advantage to him...as 'doors will open' to hear, not only a song, but also a testimony. Prayer will bring the only right answer for David.

I think David will be too famous to safely serve a mission. Besides that, his stellar example has already resulted in a bunch of baptisms. I personally know three of those people, as well as others who are investigating because of his influence.

David is such a happy ray of sunshine, so admirable in his behavior and true to his values that people are curious about the church as a result. Donny Osmond offered to serve a mission, but President Kimball told him he already was serving a mission. It will be the same with David, I believe.

Watched American Idol, voted for David A., went to David's Day at his school (after work), missed Idol tour, finally got to his concert, boght a tee shirt and poster.

I enjoyed every minute of his show from when he stepped onstage. Especially enjoyed "Zero Gravity" live after seeing it online at his website. He had 90% of the place literally jumping (not me, I'm 54). This Buddhist is happy to report that David has turned into a nice entertainer in the last year. I will follow his career with joy.

THank you David for a wonderful evening. I was surprised and very happy with your concert.

I just purchased David's first CD. It's great !! I am always a fun of David ever since I saw him competing on American Idol while I was in Manila, Philippines. I couldn't wait until he comes here in Las Vegas to perform.

Good luck David on your world tour. Take care of yourself always !!! God Bless.
