Comments about ‘Megan Corkrey still (looong shot) on 'Idol'’

I think it is pretty interesting that you are less than supportive of Megan winning Idol this season. She is not the stereotypical Mormon youth and so the paper is dismissive of her. It would be a total different story if this would have been David Osmond who didn't make it out of round two in Hollywood week. He would be getting all kinds of buzz. I was glad the judges didn't allow this to be a "Osmond" or Mormon story. He isn't a solo artist and if he would have been allowed to continue on histrionics would have ruled the day. Megan is unique and I hope she goes very FAR.

being in the top ten is a big accomplishment. Give Megan the support she deserves. She is cute and very likable--not at all stuffy and stiff. I didn't think Mormons would be all over her winning because she doesn't fit the mold. Come on Utah--think outside the box.

When are we going to learn more of her bio? All I here is that she is a single mom with a tatoo, with a quirky voice from Sandy?

She might be a long shot to win, but she has to be the most beautiful Idol ever. Even if she doesn't win your still going to SEE her around.

Megan cannot be even considered to be AI. She is horrible! She cannot sing or perform. She is too comical even for trying to go on that stage. She should never make it to top 12! What a shame!!!

I was very excited about Megan when I first saw her in the tryouts, but honestly, her performances have been abysmal since then. And yeah, she did have the flu, but even then, her dancing is dreadful. Her unique singing voice just hasn't translated well to the theme oriented contests, though I still think if she found her own style and sort of music it would be very enjoyable to listen to...

As for making her loss the mormon-bashing excuse, why don't y'all just grow up. If you blame her loss on mormons, you're just paranoid pathetic brainless sheeple who can't see past the obvious that there are some very high quality competitors in this year's competition. Just once I'd like to see a thread where mormons weren't to blame for anything and everything that's askew in your pathetic overindulged pampered existence.

the second half of this article is about "vote for the worst . com" and they're claiming megan's the worst. So if mormons are to blame for her losing, are you also suggesting they run vftw.com? Some people really are paranoid. The irony of course is that if this were a good little mormon kid and they were doing this well this late in the game, the smae people that blame mormons for the possibility of her loss would be decrying mormon bias and claiming that mormons don't vote for the best, just the mormon candidate. Could it be that mormons vote for their faves just like anyone else? No wait, that would destroy your mormon-hating agenda. So ignore that possibility.

This was a very harsh article and hardly worth the space in the Deseret News. Bringing up the porn star thing was a low blow, beneath the dignity of a Deseret News article.

Megan is very unique. If she's smart she'll realize it's not about how far you get, but what you do with it afterward. Personally I'd rather see her there compared to the vampire kid. Can we vote him off already? Lambert is a train wreck.

Megan is attractive and very talented. No one has talked about religion and that is a plus. It is all about personality, presence on stage, and talent. Megan has all three and deserves to go as far as she can. I think this article was very unprofessional, catty, and seemed to have some kind of vendetta--almost as if the author were a spurned boyfriend.

Well, she is for sure not one of the favorites. But she is charming. I like her personality.
At this point I think she does not have a chance to last more than Top6. Why? Not because of the 2 big favs. Because shhe share a lot of votes with Kris, Matt, Anoop and maybe Allison. And the guys have much stronger fanases. It is what it is.

The porn star thing is quite appropriate giving that Utah is ranked #1 in porn. I think this might actually give Megan an advantage in Utah.

I absolutely adore and love Megan! I think all of her performances have been amazing! American Idol is the "bubble gum factory" Megan shouldn't win this competition, she doesn't fit the "bubble gum" crowd. And I'm sure I'm going to get heat for calling David Cook and Archie "bubble gum" But look out at their audience and tell me its not a bubble-gum lovin' tween filled audience, and I'm not saying they are bad at all, I'm just saying Megan doesn't fit that. If you are familiar with Tori Amos, you will know that the mainstream public rarely even knows her, but she has a HUGE dedicated fan base and sells millions of tickets and albums every year, completely amazing and talented, but the average joe wouldn't know her, thats how Megan is, she'll get a super devoted fan base and make amazing records that are meaningful and tour and always have sold out venues, because the people who like her will always like her and be excited for her album.

I work with Megan's Aunt. From my perspective it doesn't matter whether Megan wins or loses at this point. I am thrilled that she will be part of the American Idol Tour next year. Often just making it to the Final 10 is all it takes for someone to get their big break. I think there is definitly a market for Megan. The report got it right essentially. Megan is not a show stopping performer, which is what American Idol will always favor. Megan however has great potential as a recording artist. Who knows now a days there is a lot of cross-over with singers to acting. You just never know. Whatever happens Megan is living a childhood dream and getting her second chance. Go Megan!

I still think Carmen Rasmusen is best Utahn that's been on American Idol. I've followed her since and she's got amazing talent. If she would have been on the show now, rather than on season 2 when American Idol was still building popularity in Nashville, she'd be just as big if not bigger than Carrie Underwood. Go watch her "Nothing Like the Summer" video on youtube and tell me I'm wrong.

Megan is drop-dead gorgeous, but her AI attributes drop off sharply after that. Her personality is good, her stage presence is fair, her voice is OK, her rhythm and dancing (?) is abysmal. But then, look at many artists who are extremely successful in the recording world, and all of them have fairly sizable warts. Most singers selling millions of recordings today do not have near the pure singing talent as the top AI contestants, so there is plenty of room for the AI also-rans.

I respect your opinion, however, there is no way on earth Carmen is even in the same galaxy as Carry Underwood. Carry is a superstar and no matter what season she would win every time (with the exception of the first) Carmen is a good singer and I enjoyed her on the show, but David A. has been the best Utah contestant, hands down.
