Again??

When is the next dedication going to be?
Meb

enough already

Who cares about another Temple being built???

CP

What a wonderful experience for these children to have. These good experiences are the kind of news stories I like to read, very refreshing.

So my reply to Again??? It's Ok with me that there are Temple dedications cause it's something positive and good. And guess what - there will be another Temple that will be completed in the summer.

Same Architect?

Looks a lot like the Conference Center downtown.

Oquirrh Mountain in August.

The LDS church, and all churches, need to spend their money solving the problems of this life, instead of spending it on multi million dollar structures that are only concerned with the next one.

How wonderful it was to be able to be in the Draper Temple for the Cornerstone Ceremony and the Dedication of the Temple this morning. What a wonderful spiritual experience it was. This is an experience I will always remember and the Spirit there was so strong. I feel really fortunate to live so near to the Temple and having the experience of being able to attend the Dedication.

And this is Eternal Life...

Wow, a wonderful event and inspired teaching that is to be had for those who enter the walls of the temple. It is such a blessing to learn eternal truths that help us both in this life and the next as we strive to become more like our Father in Heaven.

"The LDS church, and all churches, need to spend their money solving the problems of this life, instead of spending it on multi million dollar structures that are only concerned with the next one."

In working toward the next one sir, one would have to be concerned with what IS going on in this one, and I can say without a doubt that my family actively works to ensure that our lives and the ones we touch are better in the now and work to better after as well. Your comment was misdirected, rude, and above all quite misinformed. but on the same hand I hope you will join us as a human being trying to ensure that this time spent is for the betterment of all, or are your comments just hollow as well. Put your shoulder to the wheel :)

NO WAY FRED!!

Fred,
Come on churches give a lot of money to helping solve "world issues." The LDS Church and it's missionaries are usually the first ones to help the people when disaster strikes... (even during a recession) ... whether it is with giving them money, shelter, food, clothes, rebuilding, etc. You made a statement that is not needed... maybe you need to get out and help your community!

t is the purpose of building all these expensive structures in the Salt Lake metro area. I have a hard time thinking that all the other temples are being used to capacity. I guess they have to spend all that money on something.

@ No Way Fred---
You may find the numbers interesting in countries where the church is legally obligated to provide its financial records. Britain and Canada for starters...they show the church isn't nearly as "charitable" as most members believe. While I don't discount the great amount of good they do, please don't talk about the masses of money the church takes in and apply it all to "humanitarian aid", as only a small fraction of the church's wealth goes toward such aid.

wow

GeeBee are you bitter?

The Lord commands that Temples be built. As he said, "render unto Caesar the things that are Caesar's and unto the Lord the things that are the Lord's". LDS people and the Church do both. Anyway, I am sure the workers who built this magnificent structure appreciated the pay checks and spent them in our community.

Sir, was any of your money used in any facet of the erection of any LDS structure regardless of function or location, or for any LDS purpose on this old ball of dirt, mud, and rocks?

If ''YES'', I'm quite certain that all LDS members are grateful to you for your help and generousity in providing services, facilities, supplies, staff, etc.

If ''NO'', then please do have the decency and courtesy to keep your gob shut.

What would You have them do?

Halt construction on all their projects so that many more construction workers around the country and even around the world can be laid off? Having an organization as big as the church willing to keep pushing forward with projects like this and keep people employed is a good thing at a time like this.

re: Fred

Are you serious? Perhaps you should research the Church's multi-million dollar welfare program?

George

To: "enough already"

I care.

Fred, Your comments are so misguided it is almost laughable. I can think of no better way for the Church to spend some of its money than to bring peace to people in these troubling times. By understanding the eternal perspective of things, you can live in this world with greater peace, compassion, faith, and hope than without it. There is a great need for people to make themselves worthy to receive the blessings of the Temple in these troubling times. Rather than tearing down the one thing that will the biggest change in your life, you should seek out how you can be part of it.

RE: "It is such a blessing to learn eternal truths that help us both in this life and the next as we strive to become more like our Father in Heaven."

Which eternal truths are those? The ones that were taught in the temple before (polygamy and blacks) or the revised truths being taught now? the term "eternal truth" seems to be relative in the Mormon religion.
