I live in the Magic Valley region and CSI always had a strong team. I liked it when Ricks was in that mix too. I don't think SLCC gets as much community support as CSI and Ricks did though that is a good rivalry now.
I think the conference is weaker now with many schools leaving or becoming four year schools. But it is great for slcc to be as good as they are. Now if LDS Business colleg had a team that would be great rivalry.
I think the SWAC conference that SLCC is in is the toughest JC conference in the country. SLCC lost 5 conference games this year and took 2nd place in the regular season. So far the national tournament looks easier than the conference. Eastern Utah, CSI, and North Idaho are all tougher than who they've played at the national tournament so far.
I agree. The SWAC is as tough overall as any JC conference in the nation. SLCC, CSI, CEU, and N. Idaho were all in the top 25 for most of the year. Those 4 teams would beat up on any of the 120 or so JC teams in California, and Snow would beat the majority. Of all the teams at the tourny, maybe only Midland from TX, and Chipola, are better. I would guess that SLCC, CSI, CEU, and N. Idaho have more D1 level players on their rosters than the top 4 teams in any other JC conference.
