Close Call: Utah passes the ball like a bad high school team. Passing the ball
is one issue a coach should be able to address. PS. The team played better
when Luke was out. Better ball movement, faster play, better passing.

I will say this: UNLV will be headed to the NIT.
Utah and BYU, by avoiding first round upsets are already locks.
Even if one of them wins the automatic bid, there is a distinct possibility SDSU and (less likely) UNM could make it to the NCAAs if either makes it to the conference title.
So, I wouldn't call it "lucky" if two bids, I would call it "at least" two bids.
Now, if Utah has the same kind of luck as BYU, Wyoming will knock off UNM virtually setting up a BYU-Utah championship.

I love tourney time. But I think people tend to forget the main mantra of
tournament play: Survive and advance.
Today's games have no bearing on tomorrow except determining matchups.

All the Yewt posters were pretty bold in their criticism of BYU's win
against #9. At least the Cougars didn't need a last second 3 to pull off
their win. I'm glad to see UNLV one and done. Serves them right to lose
the home court advantage for once!

Good luck getting by SDSU. It's not going to happen. Since Wyo just
knocked off New Mexico I guess you'll have to watch the Utes on TV in the

to have a conference champion that passes like the ewe of ewe. Good thing the
MWC tournament is being televised on the Mtn so the rest of the country
won't be exposed to such inept passing.

I live in Wyo, a trader who likes the Utes. This is a pretty good team(Wyo).
They will defiantly give the Ute's a run for there money and have a good
chance at winning this thing. They are very athelic, and their PG Ewing is a
great player. Being able to watch both these teams excites me for tomorrows
matchup.

will be a good opponent. The fun thing about tournaments is that there is no
home floor advantage and many teams that have nothing to lose play a looser
style of basketball and find that it works. On paper, TCU and Air Force
aren't worthy opponents but nearly beat Utah and BYU. New Mexico is clearly
a more talented team than Wyoming. Nobody told Wyoming that they weren't
supposed to win. Ewing is a great player. If my Utes don't play better
tonight, it could get ugly.

Where are the BYU haters on here that were criticizing their win over AF? The
Utes BARELY beat a pretty bad TCU team. All of a sudden you don't look so
great yourselves. Not to mention your short term memory. We just torched you

I watched the ute fans rip the cougs for their close win over Air Force. How can
they boast about their team when the frogs almost beat them. They'll have
their hands full with Wyoming this time around as will the cougs with SDS. I
was hoping for a byu-utah final but, sadly, it'll probably be a wyoming-sds
final.

Why does everyone have to say something negative when Utah or BYU wins a game?
It's as though these people think the opponents are going to lay down and
roll over just because Utah or BYU has is the favorite. These teams have
learned from in previous games and made adjustments.
BTW--that Utah game was exciting! That Moss kid was amazing from TCU. The Frogs gave the Utes their best and gave the fans a great basketball game.

Give me a break, it will be Utah and San Diego in the MWC Finals. BYU barely
beat SDSU who was w/o White with an injury, now he is back and will be a
difference in the game. As for the Pokes, well they just don't have it.
Ewing is good, but he runs out of steam against a fast better conditioned Utah
team. Utes will beat SDSU...go put that on a table in LV....Oh, for the GO
POKES fan....its spelled NOT not NIT, unless you are referring to where the
POKES will not be playing this year :)

Why is it when Utah wins the haters talk about how the zebras gave it to them
(see "Lotta Help")? Did you watch the game or see the statistics.
Free throws were nearly identical and Luke, the MWC player of the year, was in
foul trouble much of the game.

Wow, what a great shot by Borha. Great way to spread the defense. When they
collapsed on the ball, two three point shooters became wide open. Good
pass!Great play!
Frogs looked great. Should have been a foul call to let them shoot with 40 seconds on the clock, but the with Borha's trey, it did not matter.

They beat us in football and in the game last night, but we still got the win.
time to break out the book of sports cliche's...

That was a bad game, but we'll take the win. It would be great to see BYU
and Utah meet in the finals, but it might not happen. Both teams have to step
it up in order for that to happen.

Unbelievable that the MWC pretends to be a major player with their own station then can't even televise their own tournament. What a pathetic bunch of morons who run this conference. They claim that CBS College Sports is a partner, as is Versus, but just to watch the two football games and two basketball games per year on CBS College Sports (formerly CSTV) we have to pony up another $5-$6 a month. I'm sure the talking heads have a good reason for dissing the entire fan base of the conference this way. The bottom line is always monetary.
Mr. "trader" (Dont Under-estimate Wyo.) who lives in Wyoming but is a Ute fan, you seriously need to have someone of much higher intelligence proof-read your posts before hitting that "Add your comment" button. Find a sixth-grader or someone familiar with the English language to correct your spelling.

To any lobo fans that will read this today LOL. Utah and BYU are not playing for
much they are an 8/9 seed maybe a 7 but its all the same. The lobos do what they
always do choke. In its biggest game of there season vs a decent team they
played tight and threw away the season. 2 years in a row having the 3 seed and
losing to the 6. The problem with unm is they cant win a big game away from home
EVER.

Is that there is a huge flaw in college basketballs "play off system"
look at all the teams Wyoming included that have or could make the tournament
with "Automatic bids" when they don't deserve it. All the while
good teams including our own Weber state that deserve the shot will not get the
invite. It is time to do away with the Automatic bid system.

Before you think about talking or writing you might want to look at the facts.
ESPN was reporting(BEFORE THE MWC BEGAN) that SDSU was one of the teams on the
Bubble after they beat UNLV in the last regular game of the season. This would
mean that four MWC teams would be in. Now after the first round of the MWC
things may change with New Mexico going down to Wyoming but some of you guys
need to STOP GUESSING AND ENJOY!!!!!! It's March Madness!!!!!!!!!!!!

If Weber can't win the big sky tourney on their home floor, maybe they
don't deserve to go. You say no automatic bids? What about Hampton, and
even Weber State over UNC? (i'm not sure if they had an automatic or not)
The automatic bids to the little guys are what makes March so much fun. Wyoming
winning the tourney and beating New Mexico, Utah, and either SDS or byu would
say alot about the team. Take away automatic bids and you erase the hopes of
half the country, and you move towards the bcs, where all that matters is the
opinion of people who aren't playing. Without an auto bid system, Weber
wouldn't stand a chance unless they didn't lose a game, or played a
top 10 non conf schedule and went at least .500. Don't mess up march
madness.

cause byu struggled with the worst team in the league and utah had a tough time
with turnovers.
