Good look coach Whit. I hope you get to keep your job after this season. I see you have a bunch of BYU want ta be's playing for you. What a bunch of 2nd class players. If they could like up to the honor code maybe they would be playing where they really want to play. I am sorry they couldn't stand up to the off season training Of Coach Bronco. Yep they are were they should be, dreaming to play for Coach Bronco.
Why would they want to play for a Coach who can't beat teams with winning record, struggles in every bowl game, can't sniff a BCS bowl game, and is a psycho with all of his religion laced comments?
Well. All my off-season fears are being driven off by another great start to another great year. I'm so impressed by the sense of loyalty and continuity on the coaching staff. I have no doubt that each and every player and coach will be ready for this season. One game at a time.
From Vegas Ute:
Another Cuber fan in the "gall of bitterness".
Just remember: "Speed Kills", and Utah has a lot more than you do. Plus, a lot more power on the outside this year.
Your only hope will be if our new QB can't put his helmet on facing forward.....and what are the chances of that?
I sit and wonder if a response to a jerk is even worth while. I enjoy reading comments and getting other people's opinions. However more and more there seems to be idiots filled with hate that fill these pages. I am a major BYU fan. I am proud of what they stand for and enjoy cheering on MY team. In doing so it does not bother mke that others may cheer for a different team (as long as they cheer FOR their team). The comments from "football fan" are idiotic and give the cougars a bad name. My appologies on his behalf. Good luck to coach Whit and his players. I hope you do well in evey game but the one the Cougs kill you in. Cheer for your team PLEASE!!!!
We're on a quest to be like Utah.......twice.
We (BYU) won the title last year for the conference and the nation. We didn't lose a single game. We did beat ourselves a few times - nothing related at all to what the other team did to us. We are the champs and we will do it again this year.
Go Utes!!
Anybody else sick of the adds with yellow teeth????
Freakin Nasty!!
Come on dude, we all know you are a YEWT fan imitating as a Coug.... come on man and own up!!!!
That is the problem with the YEWTS, they come onto the court imitating a real, honest to goodness 1st class basketball team and then go an lose to the likes of Southern Baptist and CSI.
What kind of a records is that?????
They won't make it passed the 1st round of the MWC tournament, let alone the NCAA, I mean the NIT!!!!
Utah is not the premier football program in the state and you guys will be second rate for a very long time. GET USED TO IT.
Seriously, you can't be a cougar.
Utah is going to be just fine in 09. Louks will probably take some lumps here and there, but he has at least gotten some experience. He runs the ball well, and has the ability to throw. Plus having Asiata in the backfield doesn't hurt with the redshirt freshman Shaq coming into help.
Defense will be strong once again. It thinks its harder to replace Smith than Kruger. Utah seems to find really good D-ends year after year.
Good to see football back on the plate. Go Utes....

RE: A Real Cougar Fan
From a Ute I want to thank you for your comments to, " a football fan".
This rivalry brings in great recruits from the state and is expanding into " hot bed " areas.
With the new players and staff I think realistically that Utah will go 9-3 , be second in the conference and win their 9th bowl game in a row. Given the new staff and players coming into the program they may need a few chances to settle in for a great run in 2010. If they do better than that all the happier for me and the Red blooded Utah fans and alumni.
The Blue bloods will get what is given and I can't look into the heavens and predict , but I think Bronco has a few issues to iron out. These next five years will be very, very interesting -add Utah State to the mix and it looks to be banner years for the football teams within the state.
I see that the ewe has dumbed down their OOC schedule for 2009 to avoid a repeat of 2005.
9-5 Utah State(3-9)
9-12 at San Jose State (6-6)
9-19 at Oregon (10-3)
9-26 Louisville (5-7)
If they hurry, the ewe might be able to replace Oregon with another team that didn't have a winning record in 2008.
Going to the Vegas Bowl 4 years in row is what "premier" football programs do. Going undefeated twice in four years, winning two BCS bowl games and being ranked in the final top 5 twice is soooooooo over rated.
Get a clue Zoobs.
Cougar Fans are the worst fans in the world.
Face it, Utah has a better Football program right now, will that always be the case? I hope, but not a chance, it will go back and forth for the rest of our lives. Just have fun with the fact that we have good programs in such a small state, we are very lucky.
You are not better than anybody BYU, and the fact that you feel entitled to so much is obviously ridiculous.
As long as you think that you are better than Utah and others because of "theology", and "what you stand for" people will continue to dislike you. Don't you Cougar fans understand that everyone has a personal philosophy on life and what happens after, and when you say that "I am right and you are wrong" it is extremely offensive. You should know how that feel when people make fun of your beliefs.
Get a clue and just watch the sport.
Go Utes, looks like a great year!
I'm not the original poster for this, but I agree with what he/she said. I am a big-time Cougar fan. My two sons both know the Fight Song, which they often chose as their bedtime lullaby.
You, on the other hand are a Ute fan posing as a Cougar fan spewing out the most ridiculous things possible (as stupid Ute fans do from time to time) or you are simply a dolt (which BYU fans are from time to time).
Seriously? This is a football article and you are talking basketball? What are you? 10?
The vast majority of BYU fans have a lot of respect for what the Utes did in football. If BYU is not able to do it this year (and that's a long shot looking at their schedule), I would love to see another MWC team do it. Of course, I would prefer it to be TCU over U of U...
I cant tell if your serious, i promise you that the utes will make it 5 BCS bowls before the cougars get 1. This year is going to be the same thing. Speed kills and the cougs obviously dont have it.
TheHailstorm: You have it figured right. Can't wait for it to get started.
Go UTES
Go Aggies
BYU, don't shoot so high this year, it makes you look bad when you fall like you did last year.
I've always enjoyed the taco salads at the CougarEat. I've always enjoyed the righteous football and basketball players that play for BYU.
