I served on a jury (in another state) for a case involving the robbery of a drug dealer. The "witnesses" were drug addicts. Cured me from ever wanting to serve on a jury again.

Serving on a jury really is a great experience. Unfortunately, far too much of the jurors' time is wasted and frankly not respected at all. I've served on one jury, and spent my day waiting to be put on a jury a few other times. The trial I served for lasted nearly a week. The evidence presented and arguments made could easily have been done in a few hours. Yes, I was quite happy to serve, but still felt like my time was abused. Are there any judges or lawmakers out there reading this? Let's make the jury selection process much more efficient, let's decrease the number of jurors per trial, and for goodness sake, let's limit the amount of time per trial, especially for the less serious offenses, which is most of them!

I really enjoyed my encounter with the jury coordinator at the Salt Lake Courthouse. He is wonderful and it made the day much more enjoyable. It's amazing how a stranger can make a random experience so much more fun!
