So disgusted and sad to hear about this.
Is this just happening more frequently than it used to or are these people just finally starting to get caught more often?
This report sounds like a satire of tabloid journalism? Does anybody have any factual evidence to back any of these accusations?
Enter commentsad but true and im sure because the VICTIM is male the penalty will not be as severe as it would be the other way around sounds like ms.no name got jealous of the new teacher and boy to me no guilt just jealousy
she was my math teacher and i never would've expected she has kids and had a divorce, i never would have suspected her to do this, i saw her Thursday, march 6th, i'm still shocked
I still don't understand how one teacher is sittinging in jail and the other is not and she is the one who confessed? Why aren't both of them sitting in jail? Why should the other one be shielded?
The fact is that a lady was booked into the Davis county jail on the charge of having sex with a student. That is undeniable. Now if you would like to argue that she didn't do it, that is what her trial will be for. Do you understand how our justice system works? I hate to defend the DesNews because there are plenty of times it can't be defended, but in this story they got it right. (I feel dirty all over just saying that.)
I'm a little too negative but I think it's odd only one teacher gets mentioned and embarrassed when the one who confessed had been having sex with the boy since he was 11. The "confesser" probably only came forward because she found out about his involvement with the other teacher. How sad is that? She stays unmentioned because she feels "guilty" and confessed... I don't buy it.
Wow, sounds like some of these bloggers have issues of their own.
I agree with you, why is the other one not in jail? What is good for one is good for the other! She should be right along side of her. Both of them were in the wrong.
Haha Wow... I like your comment, I think you hit the nail right on! Thanks for the laugh. :)
rightascension: Learn to READ - one teacher came forward and admitted it. The teacher in the article admitted the relationship had been going on for months. The student identified both teachers. What additional evidence did you need to move this out of the "tabloid journalism" category?
It's a little hard to equate details of the charges with the genders involved. Is this a mistake in Deseret's reporting?
I go to that school now I have had both of those teacers. and can't believe this at all.
This classless act of trusted educators becoming sexually involved with their younger students is happening way too much in this state and others. What used to be an act primarily involving male teachers propositioning the younger, female student has now crossed over into the opposite. The judicial system is very quick to impose maximum sentences to male violators and I would only hope that these two viral women get the same maximum penalties. It is time for equality in justice.
As a parent, it is hard enough to consistently educate all the other vices that touch the lives of our young ones including drug use, alcohol and internet pornography. Now we have to concern ourselves with these perverted teachers approaching our kids in a sexual manner. Absolutely shameful!
Just because a few people make horrible choices does not mean that all educators or all 13-year-olds act like these three.
It is hard to believe that a 13-yr-old would be having any type of sexual activity with 39- & 43- year-olds. Appaulling and disgusting. Sad and tragic. So many damaged lives.
It seems so many are caught up in the salaciousness of this story and judging those involved, but this is a lifelong battle for the young man, the teachers, their children, their spouses and ex-spouses, their parents, all of the students...the list goes on and on. Obviously all three individuals involved have psychological issues. A huge wound was just opened for all of the people touched by this story that will never truly close. A lot of kids had to grow up really quickly today and growing up is a painful process. I think this is all a sign of the times and how sexuality has become so pervasive in our society as a whole and how people can get lost in it all. What we need is more understanding and compassion for the journey that lies ahead. God bless the teacher's children.
they were really good teachers and I'm sorry that something like this had to happen.
Re: Anger?? Yes I am a teacher and am outraged by the abuse of trust displayed by these teachers and would practically guarantee that most teachers feel the same. Please don't assume we don't simply because this reponse forum isn't riddled with teacher comments.
Wake up Utah.... Bad things happen there everyday.
