It is only right that those who indulge in this cancer causing vice should pay a higher tax to make up for the health care costs they impose on society.

We already as smokers pay an extra tax burden. What is next? People who eat too much/ drink too much/overuse legal and illegal drugs? The health care costs from these habits way outweight the smokers. We are just easier targets and most of us are in the work force.

People like Sharon ignore the fact that food and alcohol can be used safely in moderation, while ANY amount of cigarette use is unsafe.

Show me a study that proves that. You can't because it has never been proven. If Utah wants to make some money TAX soda pop. There is no redeeming health benefits from Soda.. What is the difference? The only one is that smokers are second had citizens.

Hiking the price on things like tobacco, beer, and wines are only gonna make things worse for the economy! All of those alcoholics and addicts will now resort to trying and steal it or worse.
